The panels should be installed directly onto 1/2" drywall or moisture-resistant drywall. Painted surfaces must be sanded. Joint compound is not required unless there are uneven joints or gaps. We recommend using an advanced kitchen and bath polymer sealant for best results and you can find a list of recommended sealants at the link below. Hello Milton54, Thank you for your question! I am happy to help you! Our Delta 40154 is specifically installed so the panels are directly installed onto 1/2" drywall or moisture-resistant drywall. For best results, use a hybrid or advanced polymer kitchen & bath sealant and caulk that is designed for plastic/polystyrene, and do not use water cleanup. Other types have the potential of lesser adhesion, as well as greater shrinking and cracking over time. Examples: DAP AMP Kitchen & Bath Sealant, or LOCTITE Perfect Finish Kitchen and Bath Advanced Sealant Caulk. Adhesives: Any construction adhesive that is safe for plastics can be used, please follow the manufacturer's instructions for application and cure times. Still having the same problem. Can't get a sealer to bond to the surface. I read in one of the Home Depot reviews that the customer had tried out 4 different sealers and never found one to bond. He ended up sanding the surface to get a sealer to stick. Is this what Delta recommends? Please elevate to one of the supervisors in the lab that checks these properties. HELP!!! What sealer that Home Depot sells can you confirm will stick to the surface of thus surround?
