Good price, good function
This shower head has beaten the pants off of 2 other very fancy expensive shower heads I have had in the past. The first one I bought for a rental house and just installed 2 more in my new construction home.

Good wall holder. Weak Massage
Bought this to replace an 8-year old delta massage wand. The old wall holder had broken internally and would not stay up, and the internal mechanism of the wand started making loud noise. This newer model is much lighter, easy to operate with push buttons instead of turning a stiff control ring, and provides a very full, gentle rinse spray. The pause button is helpful. However, the massage function is very weak, barely perceptible as a massage. Weird, given that both the old and new wand have the same GPM. The new style wall holder is much better, and uses an internal (replaceable) O-ring to provide support. I suspect it will last much longer.

Very nice
This a very nice improvement from the standard hand held units. fit and finish was very nice. multi function seems to be very easy to change from one to the other, many are very cumbersome.

"Stretchable" Hose... NOT so much
Beware of "stretchable" hose. If handshower is mounted on overhead shower arm, it is difficult for hose to reach seat in back of shower without exerting some muscle. Stretching the hose in not a relaxing feature, and creates too much stress on the plumbing fixtures.

Wish I had installed this hand shower two years ago!
Installation was very straightforward because I did not have to install the holder. I have a oil-rubbed bronze shower caddy that is perfect to hang the shower head on when finished. I am less thrilled with the Delta shower water diverter (that was purchased at another location), which needs a longer threading shaft (in my humble opinion).

Solid Shower Head
Shower head is suitable for a standard sized bathroom.
- Many different spray options but you will likely use only one or two.
- An option to pause the shower head (unique feature). However, I often don't think about saving water when I am trying to enjoy a shower.
- So far, the mildew has not grown on the shower head after a few months of use as happened on a Delta shower head I had earlier.
- This shower head comes with extra unnecessary accessories. They should you give the option to just buy this shower head plus the hose $10 cheaper.

Nice, but holder is separate
The hand-held shower is very nice--a weighty, good quality, and with a long flexible hose. There are a variety of settings but none with a pulse or massage, just flow settings. It does not have a holder that screws into the shower pipe--you have to mount the hand-held mount separately on the wall. (I was able to leave the previous WaterPik holder on the shower pipe, and this hand-held fit--doesn't look as nice, but it is functional.)

Is the wall supply elbow separate or included?
I asked Delta the following question: "Is the wall supply elbow separate or included?" and was told "Yes, this model includes the wall elbow.". However, this is not true. I ordered 2 of the 55424-BL-R Hand Showers and when I opened the box there were no wall supply elbows, only the hand shower heads, hoses, and the shower head holders. So, I just want this to be made clear that when ordering the 55424-BL-R a separate wall supply elbow will need to be ordered in order to be able to complete the installation.
