Install on green board?

Can this product be installed on green board? What is the best adhesive to use?

Hello Katie, Thank you for your question regarding the Delta 38'' Direct-to-Stud Corner Shower Wall Set and I am happy to assist you today. We do not recommend installing this wall surround on green board since it is a direct to stud wall surround, although we do offer a similar glue up model which can be installed on green board. You can locate this surround under the model number, B69912-3838-WH. Below is our recommended list of sealants and adhesives. These three brands can be used as both the sealant and the adhesive for this unit: DAP® 3.0™ Kitchen, Bath & Plumbing High Performance Sealant Red Devil® RD3000™ Advanced Kitchen & Bath Sealant ECO-BOND® Kitchen-Bath-Plumbing Adhesive and Sealant Please feel free to give us a call if we can help with anything further at 800-355-2721. After installation is complete should I calk the vertical seem of the two pieces and also should I calk where it meets the base pan?

Thank you for your inquiry, Erik! The last step (10) of the installation paperwork states to APPLY SEALANT to all finished seams. Smooth bead of sealant with finger or tool to ensure a watertight seal. Painters tape can be used to mask off the joints for easier clean up. Few questions .First Home Depot never stated stud wall or glue . I do read though that i can install over green wall where old unit was. Instructions state only use Polymer adhesive. Is that true or can i use tub adhesive.? How should i coat walls ?

Is the B67916-3838-WH wall set compatible with the B710912-3636-WH square shower base? The wall set is 38 x 38 inches, and the product page recommends using it with the 38 x 38 inch neo-angle and rounded shower bases, but we want the square base.

With the stud placement for the shower walls where does anyone find room to put a valve? I had thought center of the largest wall but the stud placement doesn’t allow enough room for delta universal rough install, any suggestions?

The 21" stud placement supports the flat part of the wall. The rough valve would go either side of the stud at 21" and if needed, the 13.5" stud on the flat (non-seamed) wall could be moved. Also, the supplies can go thru the studs if necessary. I am installing this unit new constr. Step 2 shows the X for width. Why do they not give a dimension for cutting the hole for the valve. The assumption would be the valve would be in the center of either wall. Not the case, you end up on the curved area.

Can this unit be installed over wall board (sheet rock) or does it have to be installed direct to studs? Also, in doing the calculation for installing the shower valve, what thickness for the shower stall wall should I use? Thanks

Thank you for your question, Dave! Delta model B67916-3838-WH must be installed directly to studs. We do offer a similar glue up model such as B69912-3838-WH, which can be installed on green board or untreated sheetrock. Distance from the stringer to the front of the plasterguard is 2 3/4" ± 1/4" (70 mm ± 6 mm). This is the same distance to the finished wall. The distance from the stringer to the front of the bonnet is 3 7/8" (99 mm).(For reference only) If a thin wall is used, be sure to have the plasterguard behind the wall, otherwise the wall should always be flush with the front of the plasterguard. Is a siliconized sealant such as DAP Kwik Seal Ultra acceptable?

We recommend DAP 3.0, or Loctite PL Heavy Duty Sealant, If these can't be found, use latex/acrylic high-performance sealants and caulks that are designed for plastic/polystyrene and do NOT use water cleanup.
