how do i replace part # RP19653
Can I replace the Stem Extender from the top or will I have to remove the diverter assembly from its mounting?
Hi Gary, Thank you for your question. The RP19653 diverter assembly can be accessed through the top. You will need to remove the handle, handle base, and sleeve to get to the extender. Lift the extension and diverter out using the handle/retainer screw. Please see the attached photo for the parts breakdown to help with the repair.

I have an installed RP18632 transfer valve and the stem is 1 7/8” from the finished wall surface. I’m using the RP23094 base with gasket. What handle options are recommended? To assure that there would be no gaps between the base and the handle.

Sprayer doesn't spray
Hi, The sprayer just stopped working. Water forcibly comes out from the connection at the hose, but not out of the sprayer. I took the sprayer off the hose and water comes out of the hose slowly when I pull the diverter knob. I thought that maybe the sprayer was clogged, but I tried it on a shower we have and it works fine. Would this be the part I need to fix it, or could it be something else?

Hi Dan, Thank you for your question. If you have reduced or no flow from the roman tub hand shower and you have verified that the blockage is not in the hand shower itself then the RP19653 diverter is the most likely issue. The water is not being channeled to the hand shower properly. Replacing the diverter assembly should solve the problem.

How do you take the diverter assembly out of the transfer valve

Thank you for your question. The Delta RP19653 diverter assembly can be removed by pulling straight out from the transfer valve once the sleeve is unscrewed off.

What is the difference between the rp19653 and rp17730? Old part is broken and can't tell which one I need. Very old Roman tub.
Thank you for your question, Alex! The RP17730 is a diverter for a 3 handle tub/shower and the RP19653 is a diverter for a roman tub transfer valve.

Is this what I need to fix a handheld deck sprayer that won"t turn off
I have the Roman Tub Hand Held Shower and diverter. The sprayer doesn't shut off when the handle is turned.

Sleeve will not unscrew
I tried the suggestion of using a bottle opener--even tried a strap wrench, but the sleeve will not move. I've had endless problems with this particular bathroom suite of faucets.
Right now, i am trying to soak the diverter with vinegar in the hope that it may dislodge whatever calcium deposits may be restricting the threads.
Any other thoughts about how to overcome this problem?

Thank you for your inquiry! You can unscrew the base by hand or with a flat rubber jar opener. You can then use an adjustable wrench to remove the sleeve (RP19654). However, mineral buildup may be causing it to stick. Please try placing a rag soaked in 50/50 white vinegar and warm water around the sleeve assembly, and secure it with a rubber band. Give it about 15 minutes to soak in and try again. It may take a few applications of the white vinegar and water.

How to remove sleeve?
How does one remove the sleeve? The enclosed photo shows that a retaining nut is set below the sleeve and there does not appear to be any obvious place to utilize a wrench. Is a special tool needed?
