We recommend flushing the Delta Faucet Traditional Wall Mounted Tub Filler in Chrome MODEL#: T5797-WL during installation, which will remove any debris or blockage that might create an issue with the cartridge sealing. Please see the steps below to flush the wall mount valve. First, start by turning both the hot and cold water off. Place the handles in the on position to release any residual water. Remove the handle by turning the base of the handle counterclockwise by hand. Remove screw and stem extender Remove flange nut, handle flange Remove mounting sleeve and extender nut if present IMPORTANT: Do not confuse the two cartridges, as they are hot and cold specific. Unscrew the hot cartridge by turning it counterclockwise using a 19 mm hex socket wrench, place it into a bowl with 50/50 white vinegar and water. Unscrew the cold cartridge by turning it counterclockwise using a 19 mm hex socket wrench, place it into a different bowl with 50/50 white vinegar and water. Next, have someone turn the cold and hot water supply on for about 30 seconds to a minute. After this, shut the water off and install the parts in reverse.
