Rated 2 out of 5 by from Design flaw Our plumber had to use putty and plumbers tape to keep this from leaking. It leaked anyway. A second attempt seems to be holding. His assessment was that the problem is a design flaw. I was hopeful that by purchasing a Delta diverter for my Delta shower system I would avoid problems. Not so.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not work. Not made of brass. I got this about two weeks ago. It seemed well made in my hand, but it does not divert the water to the hand held (downward) opening. I've seen scores of reviews on other sites that say likewise. This is curious. As influenced by my dad who was an aircraft engineer and pilot (WWII and Korea) to examine finished work carefully, I have been struggling to understand how there can be so many bad reviews of a product that works well for roughly 75% of purchasers. I have used a tiny allen wrench to loosen the set screw, and have found performance improved when I replaced it in certain positions. My conclusion it that the assembly process does not have a quality control step to assure the item functions as intended. Not that every piece must be water tested before sale, but the factory should be randomly testing under actual conditions. I believe some workers are performing the steps incorrectly and no one is catching this.

Depth of nipple for shower head connection

My shower head has a fairly "deep" female threaded connector - it needs at least 5/8" of threaded nipple to attach to. Does this diverter provide that?
Asked by: Steve
Hi Steve, Thank you for your question! Threads on U4922-PK are 5/8” long. Best regards, Jon

Are the threads on the three ports tapered (NPT) or straight (NPS)? The specification sheet says NPSM, but applies that to threads that are clearly tapered in the drawing.

Asked by: James6M
Thank you for your question, James6M! The threads on model U4922-PK are straight. Best Regards, Benjamin

Asked by: ilewis
Hi, ilewis! Thank you for your question. As the Delta U4922-PK Shower Arm Diverter does not come in contact with drinking water, it is made of brass construction and may contain lead. Best Regards, Rosanna

I would like to know and understand the internal construction of this diverter in regards to reducing of the flow? I owned 2 diverters recently other name brands and have returned both as they have reduced the flow to the shower head. Please advise.

Asked by: Jboal
A shower arm diverter such as model U4922-PK does not have a water restriction component nor does it regulate flow other than closing off a port to divert water to the opposite port. However, with any sort of diverter, valve, or elbow, water flow is decreased naturally by any reduced internal space. Generally speaking, flow restriction will normally take place within the shower head itself, per water restriction laws that may be required in certain areas. We would recommend flushing your main valve or shower arm and checking the debris screen on the shower heads themselves. Best regards, Edward

Could I install the Delta Faucet 3 way diverter (U4922-PK or U4929-PK) between the wall and the shower arm instead of the way you described?

I bought the Delta T17286 Arzo Monitor 17 Series Shower Trim, Chrome and the Delta Faucet 55530 Vero Wall-Mount Handshower, Chrome. I would like to install the handshower using a 3 way diverter just between the end of the shower arm and the wall.
Asked by: sramost
Thank you for your question. Although the mechanism would function properly, we do not recommend that you install it this way. This is because the showerhead for the handheld shower would probably be too close to the wall and would not fit in the holder with ease.
