Rated 3 out of 5 by from Finally I found this part number!!! I'm working on an older Delta faucet in our kitchen. Couldn't get the bonnet nut off so I have to cut it off. According to the manual I needed part #RP50PB. I searched everywhere but it had been discontinued. Accidently ran across review on another website saying part #RP1050PB was the exact same part minus the adjusting ring. So on Delta's website why didn't it tell me the part was discontinued but could be replaced with this new number??? It would have saved me a lot of time. Very frustrating!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Much better than the original [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] On the original there were some serrations but nothing to really grip the nut if it was stuck, and they always are. The new ones have a shoulder which allows you to get a better grip with out damaging the nut.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nothing like OEM If your repairing something and you have the chance to use the original parts from the manufacturer your chances of being satisfied with the results are far better. I have used others and will always purchase OEM if I have the chance.

What socket fits this nut?

I'm having trouble getting the nut off. I have hard water and there is calcium buildup on the threads, etc. I can't get it off with channel lock pliers or with a monkey wrench. These faucets came with my house I bought last November. Thanks, Mark
Asked by: Mark
It was a little tricky but I sealed the gap between the bonnet and the faucet body base with strips of packing tape except for a small area in the back (the high side) so I could carefully apply Liquid Wrench to my bonnet threads. I applied several small applications over the course of 3 days to help loosen the potential build-up and corrosion on the cap threads (apply this on the bottom only, not the top where the plastic adjustment ring is under the handle...that won't help this!#. I purchased a 33mm 6-point deep socket #1/2" drive) at my local auto parts store and it fit this bonnet hex head perfectly. Using a 1/2" drive breaker bar, the bonnet cap came right off with little effort, no scaring or damage to the chrome finish. Btw, someone else here in another post notes using a 34mm socket but I found that was too loose for my bonnet cap. In my case, the 33mm 6-point socket was a perfect fit.

will it fit a Signature single handle pull-out kitchen faucet 470-DST? and any tip to remove the old bonnet? I found it stuck while trying to fix dripping water issue.

Asked by: Young
Hello Young! Thank you for your question. The RP1050 will not work with the 470-DST faucet. The correct bonnet is part # RP51502. If having difficulties removing bonnet, please try soaking it using a rag with a 50/50 white vinegar and water solution for about 1 hour. This will help dissolve mineral buildup. Best Regards, Shontay

how do you remove the Delta Bonnet Nut?

Asked by: Valorie
Hi Bonnie, Thank you for your question. The RP1050 bonnet nut unscrews counter-clockwise. Use a strap wrench or a rubber jar lid opener to get a better grip on the nut. Often hard water/ mineral build up will make the bonnet nut hard to remove. We recommend soaking a towel in a 50/50 mixture of vinegar and water and wrapping the towel around the bonnet nut. This will help break up the mineral deposits making it easier to remove the nut. Thanks, Dave

What size wrench do I need to open bonnet nut #rp1050?

Is it 1 5/16" or 1 1/4" size wrench?
Asked by: James
Hi James, I am sorry to hear about the trouble that you are having with your faucet and I would be happy to help. We do not recommend using a standard wrench on this cap due to potential for damage. I would recommending using a strap wrench as it applies even pressure all the way around the cap and will not damage the finish. A strap wrench can be purchased at your local home center or hardware store.
