Honestly, I've not installed this part yet, but Delta figured out which part from a photo, and sent me this replacement, for free, for my thirty-year-old shower. Can't comment on actually fixing the leak, but it's the correct part, with awesome customer service.

Several months ago Delta sent me a new stem assembly at no charge that fixed my leaking Delta faucet that was over ten years old and I was ever so grateful. However the faucet was discontinued long ago and I feared that sometime in the future if it leaked again the repair part might no longer be available so I bought a spare.

Hope for the hopeless
Didn't think my odd, old tub faucet was repairable (one handle for temp, one for water flow) but this part and a few others and about an hour of time and it's working like new. Thanks for having diagrams and parts in stock!

When emailing photographs, there are a couple requirements to ensure we will be able to process your request. The file format for the photographs must be .jpg or .pdf format. Multiple photographs are helpful; however, the total email size must not exceed 2 Mb. Resize the image or send multiple emails as needed. Be sure your photographs are in focus and adequately lit.

3-handle 1996 delta shower/tub faucet -- model unknown. Cold/hot water valve are rp1740. Middle valve, the one that controls the water flow between shower and tub needs replacement as some water always flows to tub. Please help with part #?

would the RP 1740 cartridge & KP 4993 spring & rubber seat kit be right for a dual handle (one for hot, one for cold) shower faucets, installed new in 1998? I could send you a picture but I cannot paste it here.

The Delta Rp1740 works best for knob style Delta Handles but they will work for the Delta 2 handle showers from 1998. The Delta RP4993 seats and springs will also work for this shower.

When in the water off position, the handles face inward instead of outward. Is there a cartridge that can change the direction 180 degrees? For example I need a cartridge with “D” shape at the top to be 180 degree turned to get handle in right direction.

I installed replacement cartridge RP1740C in my bathroom sink. Old handle was a 1/4 turn but replacement is 1/2 turn. Is it adjustable to make it a 1/4 turn?

How to install in my faucet

Thank you for your question and we are happy to help! To install a stem unit into your faucet, you will first need to cut off the water supply from below your sink. Next, you will need to use a 1/8th Allen wrench to remove any set screws. You will then remove the handle and remove the bonnet nut below the handle with a crescent wrench. From there you are able to take out the seats and springs as well as the old stem units. Replace the stem units and then replace the remaining parts of your faucet handles. Model 25730LF faucet. The right handle is totally fused to the handle base. The handle is stuck to and rotates with the base. I am able to turn the handle to the on position with great resistance, but the base rotates with it. I cannot unscrew the base.

To loosen this handle, we would recommend that you take a towel, soak it in a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and water, and wrap it around the handle overnight. That should loosen the handle so that it can be removed.

We need o-rings for this product RP 1740.. is the RP13938 the correct one?

Thank you for your question about the Delta Faucet RP1740.
We recommend replacing the stem assembly if there is an issue with the o-rings. RP1129 is the Outer o-ring. RP75547 is the Inner o-ring.
For a drip while off, we recommend replacing the RP4993 seats and springs under the stem assembly.

Hi, I have a 2497LF “Cassidy” two handle kitchen faucet that the hot side stem is leaking out, and i was looking to get new stems seats and springs for both the hot and cold side, would this stem work on this faucet? Thank you.

This can be used with the model 2497LF but it has a plastic stem instead of the brass stem on RP24096. The handle set screw may not be as secure using the plastic stem.

The stem RP1740 will seal the valve while the water in on, but you will need the seats and springs RP4993 to seal the valve in the off position. They will fit directly below the stem assembly.

The Delta Faucet WINDEMERE® Two Handle Kitchen Faucet In Chrome MODEL#: 21996LF uses the repair kit RP54801 if the faucet code does not have an "A" at the end and the RP41701 if the faucet code has an "A" on the end. The faucet code can be found on the back of the escutcheon.

Have the Classic two handle widespread faucet (looks like 3444LF-WFMPU). Have had it quite a while. Great product. However, cold water handle now very hard to turn off. Is this a fixable problem? No leaks.

Delta 2133 with Blade handles. When off, both handles point to the outside. To turn on, hot rotates ccw, cold rotates cw. Do I use RP1740 for both sides? Do you have to modify one side to function as described?

I believe I have a Inovation 3530-24 bath vanity faucet. I need to replace the stem, but your diagram shows 3 different stems listed. There are no numbers on my existing stem. How do I know which stem to order?

The RP1740 is a very common stem unit assembly, especially for two-handle faucets manufactured prior to 2015. This piece has a plastic stem. It is best used with handles that attach with a screw through the top, or using a retention screw for a lever handle. See here for more information:
