Is the adaptor RP 46073 parts compatible with the cartridge of my Delta shower faucet 17 series installed before 2006 ? Thank you

Asked by: Frank
Thank you for your question, Frank! The RP46073 cartridge adapter is for the Multichoice 17 series. This series was introduced after 2006 and is the upgraded replacement for the 1700 series. The original 1700 series used similar gaskets as part number RP28603, which consists of seats, springs and quad seals. https://www.deltafaucet.com/parts-product-detail?modelNumber=RP28603 Best regards, Edward

Does this adapter fit a pre 2006 valve? I purchased a new BN trim with valve that has this adapter but it didn't seem to fit. Can you put new trim on an old 17000 valve?

Asked by: Andy65
Hi, Andy65! Thank you for your question. The Delta RP28603 seal kit will be the correct part for the pre 2006 1700 series faucet. A new Monitor 17 series trim kit will fit an older 1700 series valve. The original cartridge, RP32104, will need to be used instead of the cartridge that is included with the new trim kit. Best Regards, Rosanna

I have Single Handle Delta Monitor Series 18

I purchased a RP 46463 Cartridges replacement Delta Genuine Parts. The adapter assembly that is in the old shower has a screw that holds it in place. The adapter in the RP 46463 has a new adapter but no screw hole to attach the assembly. I replaced the cartridge without putting the adapter assembly in because there was not a screw hold. The faucet still leaks. Any suggestions ?
Asked by: Buddy
Hi Buddy, Thank you for your question. You will still need to install the cartridge adapter. The screw was removed as it is not needed to hold the adapter in place and would cause issues if not threaded in completely. Thanks, Dave

how to install part number rp46073

Asked by: John LeN
Hi, John LeN! Thank you for your question. To install the RP46073 adapter assembly, first shut off the water to the shower unit. Remove the handle assembly and unscrew the bonnet nut. Pull the valve cartridge assembly. Unscrew the older adapter out with a philip's screw driver. Reinstall the new adapter into the valve body. Reinstall all parts. I'm converting a 14 series to a 17 series. Is this the part I need?

Asked by: Russ
Hi Russ, Thank you for your question. The RP46073 will not convert your 14 series to a 17 series. If your 14 series is newer than February 2006 the rough in should be the R10000 multichoice universal rough. To convert to a 17 series you will only need to order a new 17 series trim which will include the new cartridge to make the transition. If your existing faucet is older than February 2006, the entire faucet trim and rough will have to be changed. Thanks, Dave

can i put this in without disassembling everything

Asked by: brian
Thank you for your question, brian! The RP46073 adapter assembly can not be installed into the valve body without first removing the temperature knob, volume control handle, sleeve, bonnet nut and cartridge. The adapter itself may come pre-assembled and will not need to be taken apart. Best regards, Edward

Can I get some written instructions on how to install this adapter? thanks Irene

Asked by: Irene
Hi Irene, Thank you for your question. To install the adapter, please be sure to turn off the hot and cold water supply to the home and turn the faucet on to relieve any pressure. Next, pop off the temperature dial cover and remove the Phillips head screw. Note the position of the Rotational Limit Stop (RLS), then remove the RLS, the handle assembly, and the sleeve. Unscrew the bonnet nut (strap wrench is recommended if it does not come off by hand), and pull out the cartridge. Remove the adapter and install the new one. The existing adapter may have a small screw holding it in place, but newer versions do not use a screw.
