Dear CindyLou, Thank you for your question. The Delta RP46079 is a Hot and Cold water Pressure Test plug. To install this plug, make sure water supplies are shut off. Then install the plug in the cold water opening/hole, inside of the valve body. Then install the test cap and bonnet. This will prevent the cold water from flowing into the valve, so that you can check the hot water pressure coming into the valve. Best regards, Tanya

Hi Quail, Thank you for your question about the Delta Faucet RP46079. This test plug is used to prevent cross-flow when checking for leaks if a cartridge is not yet installed. With the test plug in either the hot or cold inlet, both outlets plugged, the test cap in place, and the bonnet screwed on. Turn on both the hot and cold water supplies to pressure check for leaks in all of the plumbing connections. Please reach out with any additional questions! Hi JS009, Thanks so much for contacting Delta Faucet Company about RP46079! During the first few days you use your faucet, a small amount of debris may be flushed out of your pipe system. This happens even though the plumber flushes the pipes before completing work on your home. In addition, particles of solder, copper chips, plumber's tape and other installation materials can get caught in aerators and shower heads. We would recommend flushing the rough valve and soaking the cartridge in a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water.
