What Shower Trims will fit an old RP32104 Valve Cartridge?
I want to replace my Shower Trim and don't want to have to replace the valve. What Delta Trims will still fit on an old RP32104 Valve Cartridge?
Asked by: LJWMDPhD
Hi LJWMDPhD, Thank you for your question. Our current T17 series Monitor trims will fit your RP32104 cartridge and existing rough in. The new trim will ship with a new RP46463 cartridge. This new cartridge will not fit your existing rough, you will continue to use your RP32104.
Thanks,

Can I use the grey sleeve from a rp46463 on a replacement rp32104. Everything seems fine but I get no water flow?
Asked by: SCJ38
Hello SCJ38,
Thank you for your inquiry! The gray plastic top cap of the RP46463 cartridge can not be used on the old cartridge body of the RP32104, due to the tabs on the side, that line up and fits into the notches of the brass valve.

RP46463 removal
I have a leaky shower and I am trying to remove the cartridge. I can remove the screw, pull the temperature control lever, and then the stop lever. Then I can pull the sleeve with the lever for the flow out. Now I am stuck. What is the next step?
Asked by: Sanjay
Hi Sanjay, Thank you for your question. The final piece holding in the RP46463 cartridge is the bonnet nut. This round nut will unscrew counter-clockwise and once removed you will be able to access the cartridge. Here is a link to our how to replace the Delta tub/shower cartridge video.

Why does the volume knob on my multichoice 17 series go all the way around with no stop?
I have the temperature control working independently but the volume knob turns without stop and the temp seems to change depending on where the volume control is.
Asked by: Trevor
Hi Trevor, Thank you for your question. It sounds like either the tabs or the teeth that limit the volume control handle movement are worn or broken. You will need to replace the RP46463 cartridge to resolve the issue.

I have a Delta Faucet T17155-RB Victorian Monitor 17 Series, trim. What type of cartridge do I need?
Asked by: mxbuchta
Thank you for your question, mxbuchta! The RP46463 is the current Multichoice 17 series cartridge and is the correct cartridge needed if your shower faucet is newer than February 2006. If your current faucet is older then February 2006 and your original cartridge is white, you would need the RP32104 cartridge assembly.

What is the difference between the #RP32104 & #RP46463 cartridges?
The cartridge needs replaced in my Monitor 17 Series tub/shower. I see that both models are listed as 17 Series, with the exception that #RP46463 is also listed as "MultiChoice".
My current faucet has independent volume & temperature control.

Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet part # RP32104 is used for our older valves before we introduced the Multi-choice valve. Delta Faucet part # RP46463 is the cartridge to be used in our Multi-choice valve.

The coupling that's holding the Delta cartridge assembly RP46463 is frozen and I might need a new one. What's the P/N
Asked by: Manuel
hi Manual, Thank you for your question. The bonnet nut that holds the RP46463 cartridge in place is available as RP22734.
http://www.deltafaucet.com/repairparts/details/rp22734.html
Often mineral build up will make it difficult to remove the bonnet nut. We recommend soaking a towel in a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water and then wrapping the towel around the bonnet nut. Allow the solution to soak in overnight if possible. This should help break up the mineral deposits and make it easier to remove the bonnet nut.

is this not under warranty
Asked by: William
Thank you for your question, William! Although covered under the Delta Lifetime Limited Warranty, the RP46463 Valve Assembly Cartridge is seldom needed as the RP46073 Cartridge Adapter that fits behind the cartridge is the part that is actually responsible for sealing water. This may need replaced periodically but is also covered under this warranty.

temp decreases with volume
I have just purchased a trim and cartridge RP46463 which was installed by a plumber. The nominal 120 degree setting works but when volume is decreased by the big handle the temp also decreases. Since my wife has resparatory issues we have increased the hot tim stop to get a bit hotter water on the hot side but when the volume handle is decreased the temp falls off to cold more radically. Is therfe another adjustmenjt which will more likely result in coordinating the temp knob so that changes in the volume knob do not result in a temperature change. We live on a rural property with a well and a constant pressure device on the well. we have removed all volume restrictions in shower heads since we have no need to restrict water for economic reasons
Asked by: Harold
Thank you for your question. If your temperature is decreasing when your volume handle is moved, then the screw underneat the temperature handle is screwed in too tight. To fix this, squeeze the sides of the temperature knob, and then pop off the handle. Unscrew the screw slightly and replace the handle. This should solve your problem.

Assembly, see below
Hi Dave, I have a follow up question to your answer. Will the new RP32104 cartridge support the dual function pressure balance where the dial adjusts temperature, handle adjusts volume (T17292). The old, original cartridge I have won't support this. Thanks Anne
Asked by: anne
Hi Anne, If your original shower is from 2006 or after the RP46463 would be the dual function cartridge that you would use. If your faucet is older than 2006 and was not dual function to begin with you will not be able to have the dual function capability. You would want to purchase a T13/14 series trim to replace what you had.
Thanks,
Dave

RP46463 complete.
The diagram that came with my 18T series valve set shows that I need to replace the Cartridge Assembly RP46463. The diagram shows that there are 4 items that make up the assembly. Is this correct? I read a report by someone who said to replace springs and seals when you replace the cartridge, so are those what is shown in the book.

Hello Larry,
Thank you for your question. Delta Cartridge Assembly RP46463 comes with the cartridge itself and an adapter assembly that has the seats and springs with it.

How do you remove the temperature control knob cover on a 17 series shower ?
The shower is leaking through the head a little so I plan to replace the cartridge, which I believe is a RP46463, but I'm not sure how to pry off the cover of the temperature control knob without causing damage to the cover.
Asked by: E
Hi E, Thank you for your question. To remove the temperatue knob cover on a 17 series faucet you will need to use your fingers to pry apart both sides of the round portion of the cap and then lift up from the bottom to the top to remove. Temperature control knob will not move independently
I have a polished nickel multi choice shower Cassidy series MultiChoice® 17 Series Tub and Shower Trim - T17497-PN
Read more: http://www.deltafaucet.com/bath/details/t17497-pn.html#ixzz3AOOdmXXx
since it was installed I have never been able to control the outer knob independently from the on off knob, they only move together and the only way to control the temperature is with the scalding rotational limit stop set to one setting and I'm stuck with this temperature. I do notice that the shower gets hotter as the pressure increases so I'm stuck with one temperature and one setting of pressure. I called the company a few times and realize it's not the rotational limit stop or how tight the outer screw is. I've taken it apart and reassembled many times.
Delta thinks I could have gotten a defective cartridge but I want to make sure that that is the problem and understand how the cartridge makes the outside temperature knob move separate from the on off knob. It is not easy to get underneath my house to turn off the water so I can't do this easily just to troubleshoot. I do have a replacement part if need be. Disappointed I spent so much money on this and it doesn't work properly but happy customer service trying to help. I don't want to hire a plumber again.
Asked by: ny deltacustomer
Hi ny deltacustomer, Thank you for your question. Both the volume control and temperature control knobs connect directly to the RP46463 cartridge. The volume control causes the entire cartridge to rotate to adust the water flow. The temperature knob moves only the stem of the faucet on the inside of the cartridge controlling the mix of the hot and cold water. The new cartridge and the proper installation of the handle assembly should resolve your issue.
Thanks,
Dave

Hi JR, Thank you for your question. If your 14 Series shower is newer than February 2006 which came with the R10000 universal rough in all you will need to purchase is the T1729*-I trim. The trim will come with the new cartridge and adapters. If you faucet is older than February 2006 you will not be able to convert your existing faucet, you will have to change the rough in valve as well.

how to replace this unit into shower facuet 4 6463 shower valve replacement
Asked by: Patricia
Thank you for your question, Patricia! The RP46463 cartridge can be easily replaced by first turning the water off to the unit, room or home. Next you will need to remove the handle' set screw, bonnet nut and sleeve assembly. The cartridge can then be pulled straight out. The adapter assembly may have a screw holding it into the valve body. The new adapter assembly will not need this screw. The cartridge can then be replaced and all other components reinstalled. Please contact us directly if you have questions or need assistance with this type of repair.

My second 17 series install runs warm at best, yet the basin taps on the same line are hot as expected, is there an adjuster here for flow?
Asked by: Nick
Hi, Nick!
Thank you for your question. There is a rotational limit stop (RLS) at the temperature control to adjust the hot water limit. To adjust the RLS, first remove the temperature cover and take a phillips head screw driver and turn the set screw counter clockwise to remove.
Remove the gray knob. Behind the knob, you should see a black disk. Take the disk and take it out and place the disk to the hotter side. The hot side should be up against the iron piece that is sticking down on the volume handle. Once adjusted, reinstall all handle parts.
