Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for thin wall shower wall Great add on if you have a thin walled shower. Decent instructions too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from better than expected We purchased this product because the instructions in the delta faucet recommended it in a shower surround with no "wall" to help support it. It worked better than we expected, it keeps the shower wall held firmly to the framing and the faucet hardware steady. Without it I think the faucet trim would not be firmly in place and may cause damage over time.

Will this rp47202 work with model r1000-unbxhf,if so can I use in addition to mounting the valve to the stud wall

Asked by: gary
Hi, Gary! Thank you for your question. If the MultiChoice Universal R10000-UNBXHF Rough In Valve Body is solidly mounted to the studs/stringer it is not necessary to also install the Delta RP47202 thin wall installation aid. Best Regards, Rosanna

Thin wall aid installation sequence

When using the thin wall aid, does one ring go on either side of the shower wall and does the plaster guard remain installed on the valve body?
Asked by: bobpamdel
Hi Bob, Thank you for your question. The thin wall aids would be positioned on either side of the shower wall. The plasterguard is used in the installation of the valve body. Thanks, Dave

Even though I can solidly mount the R10000 valve body to studs behind my fiberglass tub, would you recommend using the RP47202 thin wall option?

Asked by: Maury
Hi Maury, Thank you for your question. If the R10000 rough in valve is solidly mounted to the studs/stringer it is not necessary to also install the RP47202 thin wall installation aid. Thanks, Dave

I'm putting in a Sterling ensemble bath/shower enclosure. I'm using a Delta R10000-UNBX.

Do I have to use a RP47202 thin wall inst. kit, and what size holesaw do I use to make a hole for the valve?
Asked by: len
Thank you for your question. It is a customer's preference whether or not they use the thin wall mounting kit when mounting the valve on a fiberglass tub. Included here are the spec for Delta Faucet model # R10000-UNBX for your measurements. http://www.deltafaucet.com/customersupport/documentation/r10000-unbx.html?document=ts&documentIndex=0&proUser=true#flashWrapper

1400 series shower faucet

My home, built in 1999, has 1400 series shower faucets that I believe were not installed correctly. What part is needed for a fiber glass shower surround, thin wall installation? In addition, some water hammer has developed when the toilet is flushed and I have traced it to the connection where the hot and cold water meet at the valve. There are no water hammer arrestors at the hot/cold inlets. Do installatoin instructions call for arrestors on each inlet? thanks
Asked by: Ricky
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # RP47202 is the part needed for thin wall installation like on fiberglass tubs. It is used with the multi-choice valve, R10000-UNBX. Regarding the water hammer, we do not have arrestors in our inlets. You may install them if you develop water hammer but we do not maufacture them. Check with your local retailer or wholesaler for the part.

shower rough in valve

replacing rough in valve, ceramic shower/bath. other side of wall is sink & cabinet. would like to replace valve w/o increasing approx 7 inch diameter hole in tile. Distance from stringer is 2 + 5/16 inch which i think is OK. However the 2x4 inch stringer ...only top mounting hole of rough in valve meets stringer, bottom mounting hole is below stringer.. meets air.. Any suggestions? Would thin wall mounting kit help? Thanks!
Asked by: Theo
Hi Theo, The RP47202 thin wall installation aid would help to support the rough in as it mounts to both sides of the wall. This should help firm up the rough in install where only 1 screw is attached to the stringer. Thanks, Dave

use of RP47202 thin wall installation aid vs. traditional 2X mounting

Dave, I’m installing the R10000-UNWSHF Delta MultiChoice® Universal in conjunction with an Aquatec 3232 CS 4 piece shower enclosure. I have/will have ample 2X backing to mount the R1000. So to confirm the RP47202 thin wall installation aid is not needed if it is solidly mounted, correct? Also you indicated that the plaster guard remains attached to the R1000 so the 2X depth in the stud wall is adjusted so that the plaster guard just touches the back of the thin wall panel (as opposed to flush with the finished front), est. to be about 1/8”, is that correct. As an alternative to the guess work of determining the backing depth in the stud wall mount I could opt to mount the R1000 using the RP47202 thin wall installation aid, correct? Lastly is the opening, if the plaster guard is intended to be flush with the back of the wall panel, should the opening I need to cut in the panel need to be the inside dimensions of the plaster guard or can I opt to bore a hole capable of receiving (with close tolerance) the bonnet nut? Is there a reason I would need to access any part of the R1000 housing after installation of the wall panel for maintenance, presuming pressure tests were successful before installation of the panel?
Asked by: bob
Hi Bob, Thank you for the follow up questions. You are correct that you do not need the thin wall installtion kit if you arer mounting the R10000 to the stringer. The plasterguard on the R10000-UNWSHF should be flush or subflush 1/4" to the finished wall. Distance from the stringer to the front of the plasterguard is 2-3/4". The size of the cutout is normally the size of the plasterguard. This information can be found in the installation instructions of the R10000-UNWSHF. Here is the link. http://www.deltafaucet.com/customersupport/documentation/r10000-unws.html?document=mi&fromDetailArea=bath&documentIndex=0#flashWrapper Thanks, Dave
