How do I get the cap off after I unscrew the single plastic handle with phillips screw?

On the Bonnet Cover Cap shown above there is no band of ribs visible. On my cap there is a 1/4 inch band of ribs that looks like where to apply a pipe wrench to unscrew the cap (countercw) if it does not unscrew easily by hand. When I apply the pipe wrench with power nothing unscrews. That cannot be good. Does the upper portion of the cap unscrew leaving the part with the band of ribs in place? If so how? Is a strap wrench needed or is hand strength enough? Is counter cw correct? I am ready with a ball RP212F that matches the ball tip I see that is sticking up from the cover I want to remove to replace it if needed. The faucet spout itself not the body or base (looks like a 501 or 522 model) is sometimes leaking but always stops if the single faucet handle is moved slightly left or right. The leaking cannot be consistently demonstrated. Part of me wants to leave it alone....but .... since I am the owners handyman I am not voting.
Asked by: BruceOnTheBike
Thank you for your question. Regarding your bonnet cap, the whole thing should be able to unscrew by hand or with a channel strap. It is possible that there are mineral deposits built up underneath the cap. We recommend using a towel soaked with a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and cold water. Soak the area for a couple of hours or overnight is better.

SPECIFICATIONS AND DIMENSIONS NEEDED

I had a granite countertop installed. The hole drilled is too small for my faucet to drop all the way down. It has an estucheon (cover plate) but it won't work because the sink is curved on the back. Will a product like this work to hide the plastic part sticking above the countertop?
Asked by: Granna
Hi Granna, The dimensions for this part are as follows: The outside diameter of the larger opening on the bottom of this part is 1 5/8" and the inside diameter of the smaller opening is 1 1/8". The piece is a little less than 1" tall. I hope this information is helpful.

RP51503 BONNET DOES IT HAVE AN O-RING AND IF YES WHAT IS THE SIZE AND REFERENCE NUMBER?

Asked by: JOHN 123
Hi, JOHN 123! Thank you for your question. The RP51503 has a v ring, it is not available as a separate item. The entire RP51503 bonnet nut would have to be ordered if the v-ring is needed. Best regards, Themar
