Which components are ceramic?
The RP4993 of other valves are rubber. Is this part ceramic in this valve?
Thanks,

i am hoping to use the T14251 outdoors
want to use in an outdoor shower on an exterior wall of a heated space. Shower is covered and surrounded so minimum sun and rain/snow exposure. But it is obviously exposed to temp extremes. Can you use the T14251. Is Ceramic cartridge preferred. I will winterize the entire shower but could also pull the cartridge if that helps.
Asked by: steve
Hi Seve,
Thank you for your question. The T14251 could be installed outside if fully winterized. The ceramic RP74236 is designed to be longer lasting in applications with harder water or more debris. However, the pressure balance and temperature control aspects are the same as the included RP46074 cartridge.
Thanks,
Jon

so if I buy the T13020 chrome trim kit to replace polished brass, does it come with a replacement cartridge or do I have to buy it separate? Do not want to replace the valve itself just the trim on it and the cartridge
Asked by: DON1
Hi, DON1!
Thank you for you question. The T13020 Delta trim kit includes the gray RP46074 valve cartridge assembly. If you have the same gray RP46074 in your existing valve, you can either use your existing cartridge or replace with the new one that comes with the new trim kit. If you installed your faucet before 2006 and have a white, RP19804, valve cartridge, you can still use the T13020 unit, but you will have to either use your existing RP19804 valve cartridge assembly or purchase a new replacement RP19804, if yours is having any issues. Here is a link to this cartridge assembly:
https://www.deltafaucet.com/parts-product-detail?modelNumber=RP19804
If you do no have either unit, but you still want to use the T13020, you will want to replace the whole valve body to the Delta MultiChoice R10000 rough valve.

Rosanna

Hi Fred,
Thank you for your question. To get to the cartridge you will have to remove the handle and the trim sleeve first. Next remove the bonnet nut. You now should be able to pull the cartridge out and replace. Please call our toll free Homeowners/Warranty line if you need further assistance.

How do I find the part number of my current delta shower faucet so I can order a replacement?
Asked by: oneeyedjack
Thank you for your question, oneeyedjack! The shower series number is typically printed on the escutcheon plate, just below the handle. If you have a single handle faucet that controls only the water temperature and turns on by moving the handle counter-clockwise you will have either a 1300/1400 series or a 13/14 series faucet depending on the age. If the faucet is older than February 2006 it should be a 1300/1400 series that uses the RP19804 cartridge which is white in color. If the faucet is newer than March 2006 it should be a 13/14 series faucet and uses the RP46074 cartridge which has a gray top. Please feel free to contact us directly if you have questions or need further assistance.

Hi Fix it chick, Thank you for your question. You may or may not need the spacer depending on how you think the handle and trim sleeve match up to one another. The spacer helps set up this distance between the 2 parts.

What Delta Bath and SHower Trim Kits work with a RP74236 valave?
The online information says 1300 & 1400 series. However these series trim kits do not appear to provide the temperature control that is needed with this cartridge.
Asked by: Mike
Hi Mike, Thank you for that question!
The rp74236 is the ceramic version of the rp46074 13/14 series cartridge. Any T13 or T14 series trim would work with the rp74236 cartridge.

In installation, the hot water doesn't flow through the cartridge. Why?
The cold water works fine, but little comes out when only the hot water is on. Help
Asked by: BW
Hi BW, Thank you for your question. Both the hot and cold water supplies must be turned on for the pressure balance cartridge to work properly. If only the hot water is on, water will trickle out at best. If both supplies are on and you are experiencing the issue there may be debris blocking the flow of water. You will want to flush the faucet if that is the case.
I have attached a link to a how to flush the lines on your tub/shower faucet below.

Is this cartridge compatible with the Delta Universal rough in?
Asked by: Jordanm
Hi, Jordanm!
Thank you for your question. The Delta RP73598 Valve Cartridge Assembly is a ceramic valve that can be ordered for any of our Floor Mount Tub Filler Trim to increase the flow rate. This is a non-pressure balance cartridge that replaces the RP46074 in our Floor Mount Tub Filler Trims only, and is not intended for use in our Delta Universal MultiChoice R10000 Rough In Valve Body.

Do you need to turn off the house water supply prior to changing this cartridge?
We have had great difficulty keeping the knob on this assembly. After reinstalling and tightening the set screw every few weeks, the brass tip on the cartridge stem has broke off. I assume that I need to replace the cartridge?

I have a 1700 series faucet and am trying to change the trim. Purchased a trim kit not realizing that it was for 1300/1400. The cartridge is not compatible with my plumbing housing. Is there a cartridge/adapter that will be compatible with this trim kit?
Asked by: Beve
Hi,
Thank you for your question. I apologize for the issue. In March of "2006" we manufactured a universal valve body that allows any of our current MultiChoice trims to interchange. If you have the universal valve you will be able to change your existing 17 series to our T13/T14 series.
If your unit was manufactured prior to March of "2006" you have an older valve body and will not be able to make the change without replacing the rough in valve as well. You will be able to use any of the T17 series trim using your existing RP32104 cartridge and valve. You will not be able to use the MultiChoice RP46463 cartridge included with the new T17 series trim.

I have a Delta 13/14 Series, when I install the cartridge with Hot on the left the on/off handle is out of alignment bad. If I reverse it 180 degrees and make H on right the handle is correct, but hot water comes on before cold.
Asked by: John
Thank you for your question, John! The cartridge is meant to be installed with the "H" or Hot marking on the left provided that is the side of the hot water inlet. The handle should be in the off position at about 3 o'clock. Adjusting the stem of the cartridge will help with the alignment and you may also need to adjust your rotational limit stop.

Hello, I replaced the 13/14 Valve. And the Valve Handle is at the 3 O’Clock position. It works but I can’t turn the valve completely counter clockwise to get full Hot water. What can I do?
Asked by: Robert
Hi, Robert!
Thank you for your question. The valve cartridge assembly does have a rotational limit stop that can be adjusted so that your water can become hotter. You will want to remove the set screw from the handle with a 1/8" allen wrench. Once the handle is removed you will be able to see the rotational limit stop on the front of the cartridge. To adjust the rotational limit stop:
1. Pull out the inner, off-white circle. It maybe quite stiff.
2. When pulled out far enough, the circle will turn. Left (counterclockwise=hotter, right (clockwise)=colder.
3.Release the circle once it's at the desired temperature.
4. Test the temperature, adjust the rotational limit stop as needed.

What is the Gallons per minute rating of the cartridge
I need to know the GPM flow through this if it is in a R10000 rough in. I am wanting to use this as a temperature control that feeds into a 6 function valve that will allow me to have multiple heads active.
Asked by: MikeFromAiken
Hi MikeFromAiken,
Thank you for your question. The 13/14 series cartridge will allow up to about 5.8 gallons per minute from the shower port of an R10000-UNBX valve at 60 PSI. With the R10000-UNBXHF you can get about 6.3 gpm from the shower port.

I just installed a brand new (from lowes) delta 13/14 series in a shower renovation -
but the shower head keeps dripping - about a a couple of drops every 15-20 seconds apart -
I have not sheetrock yet as I want to resolve the issue before doing so...
Asked by: milton
Hi Milton, Thank you for your question. It sounds if some debris may have gotten into the cartridge during the installation. We recommend removing the cartridge and flushing the faucet to clear the lines. Make sure the valve body and cartridge itself are clean and free from debris. You can separate the upper and lower portions of the cartridge to access the seats and springs and insure that they are debris free as well.
