Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not very durable The valve surfaces may be ceramic, but the rest of the internals are brittle plastic. So when the stop on the valve gets broken like this, the entire cartridge has to be chucked in the bin. This unit is not that old, and now is junk.

I have a Delta Monitor shower valve cartridge - due to the plumbing, I'm unable to make the shower hot enough even with the scald guard set to the hottest level. Is it possible to remove the scald guard without damaging the cartridge? Thank you!

Asked by: Eric
Hi Eric, Thanks so much for contacting Delta Faucet Company about RP74236! No, we do not recommend opening or removing anything from the cartridge. Another option is to set your hot water heater at 120 or lower, this would allow for a lower PSI to turn on the hot water heater and keep it on. Please contact us directly if you have any questions or need additional assistance. Best Regards, Nicole Digital Communications Specialist

I inserted new delta part rp46074,The Handel will not fit over the new cartridge in the shower.

Asked by: Sheila
Hi Sheila, Thank you for your question about the Delta Faucet RP74236. This ceramic cartridge is interchangeable with the RP46074 cartridge. If the handle does not fit the cartridge, this may be the wrong cartridge for your shower trim. 13/14 series showers installed before 2006 would use RP19804 cartridges. Check for a spacer inside the trim sleeve. Try installing the handle with the spacer removed. The limit stop on the end of the cartridge may have been redesigned and different from the previous cartridge. Older cartridges had a removable disc that would not be used with a new cartridge. See the installation instructions for the cartridge and handle here: https://media.deltafaucet.com/MandI/107528%20Rev%20F.pdf Please reach out for further assistance or with any additional questions! Asked by: NoJob
Hi NoJob, Thanks so much for contacting Delta Faucet Company! The MODEL#: RP74236 should be pulled straight out of the valve, do not twist it to remove it. Please reach out with further questions! Best Regards, Kelley Digital Communications Specialist

I have a series 13/14 shower Valve. It has a blue body. I do not get enough hot water even at all the way on and the adjuster all the way hot. Is there a cartridge that will fit that does not have the Hot water limiting feature? (scald Prevention)?

Asked by: Kelly54
Hi Kelly54, Thanks so much for contacting Delta Faucet Company! Unfortunately, changing out the valve cartridge assembly alone, will not allow you to be able to adjust the volume. Our 13/14 series cartridges will allow up to about 5.8 gallons per minute from the shower port of an R10000-UNBX valve at 60 PSI. With the R10000-UNBXHF you can get about 6.3 GPM from the shower port. Please reach out with further questions! Best Regards, Kelley Digital Communications Specialist

Is there a trick to getting the cartridge to slip into the shower valve body? The O rings are preventing it from going in and I have applied a lot of grease. I have also inspected the valve body for foreign matter.

Asked by: Jim P
Hi Jim P, Thank you for contacting Delta Faucet Company! Please accept our sincere apology for the inconvenience you are experiencing. Here is what we can do to resolve your issue for you. Our Delta Faucet Cartridge - Ceramic - 13/14 Series Shower MODEL#: RP74236 can be inserted into the valve as far as it will go, then take the bonnet nut to start tightening the valve. This would help squeeze the cartridge into the body for a secure fit, adding a bit of cooking oil to the oring would assist in the installation. Thank you for being a loyal Delta Faucet customer. We appreciate your business and look forward to continuing to serve you. Please contact us back with any further questions. Best Regards, Nicole

I replace the cartridge on my series 1314 multi choice and the shower still leaks water comes out of the showerhead when it is turned off what can I do about this.

Asked by: ttwd4
Hi ttwd4, Thank you for your question about the Delta Faucet model RP74236 Cartridge - Ceramic - 13/14 Series Shower. Please accept our sincere apology for the inconvenience you are experiencing. We will be happy to assist you in resolving this issue as quickly as possible. A small amount of water may continue to drip from a showerhead after the valve is turned off as the remaining water leaves the faucet. If the drip continues, recommended maintenance is to clean and flush the valve, replace or clean the seats and springs in the legs of the cartridge. To flush the valve, turn off the water supply and remove the cartridge. Turn on the water supplies to flush the valve. This will shoot water across the shower and clear any trapped debris. Mineral deposits can be cleaned with a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water. Please contact us directly if you have any questions or need additional assistance. Thank you for being a loyal Delta Faucet customer. We appreciate your business and look forward to continuing to serve you! Best Regards, Bryan Digital Communications Specialist

I have a Delta shower monitor series 1400, white valve body, #12917141 printed on the side of the cartridge, Probably installed in 2004. I would like to improve the flow, what cartridge should I use?

Asked by: Mark
Thank you for your question, Mark! The Delta RP74236 Valve Cartridge Assembly is a ceramic valve that can be ordered for any of our Floor Mount Tub Filler Trim to increase the flow rate. This is a non-pressure balance cartridge that replaces the RP46074 in our Floor Mount Tub Filler Trims only, and is not intended to be used with our 1400 series shower trims. Best Regards, Benjamin
