Thank you for your question, Gary! The temperature knob itself will connect directly to the valve assembly cartridge with a Phillips head screw. The Cover will then snap firmly on top of the knob by first hooking the tab in the front into the groove on the front of the knob. Alternatively, removing this cover is easiest by prying it off from the back side. The temperature dial of the Delta Ara 17 Series shower RP75441 installs by hooking the front of temperature control cover onto the plastic knob part before engaging the rear end to snap in place.
