Instructions needed. The original faucet handle fell off randomly one day after about 4 years and couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to reattach it as the screw was too short so assuming I had lost so other interior part; I ordered the replacement handle for $65 and it arrived with same screw that was too short to connect the handle but no install instructions. After spending an hour on phone with customer service they emailed me the instructions.
The screw attaches to the faucet and then Allan wrench goes thru the screw hole in handle to connect to screw on inside to tighten up. Weird design though and had I known that or had it included install instructions, I could have easily fixed my old one and not spent $65 to replace it
Here’s the install instructions to help others so it helps the next person.

QuestionThis is just a question about the Delta Essa Faucet handle. It appears that the "Ask a question" function is no longer available??? We have 2 Delta Essa Faucets and I noticed that on the handle where the screw goes is just a hole now. The screw is still in tack on both faucets. I am thinking that we may have lost the cap that covers the hole. Is there such a thing and can I order 2 replacements?

What size wrench?Beware! This handle is attached via a single screw that tends to loosen. It came with a wrench (of what size? Stay tuned), but as this was part of a complete remodel, the wrench was lost to the sands of time.
The allen wrench size that worked was 1/8” - you’re welcome.

Disappointed with Delta Essa Faucet Handle1. Set screw continually loosens and can strip
2. No option to purchase replacement set screws separately, requiring entire handle assembly replacement
3. Set screw is inadequately sized and fails to engage valve stem threads properly
4. Metal housing is poor quality and prone to breakage
Does this kit include the set/holding screw for the faucet handle?

which direction is hot and which is cold? I think the plumber hooked it up in reverse.
Asked by: Sheri
Thank you for you question. When you pull the Delta 9113-DST Faucet handle out and away from the faucet is the cold position. Pulling the handle forward is the hot position. Closing the handle back to the top, closest to the body of the faucet is the off position.

Can you buy the screw that holds the handle in place separately? I can't bring myself to spend that much money on something where I only need the screw.
Asked by: Russ
Hi Russ,
Thanks so much for contacting Delta Faucet Company!
Unfortunately, the RP72998 set screw is not available to order as an individual part. The handle kit would need to be replaced.
Please reach out with further questions!

This handle on my faucet is leaking does this kit come with all the parts needed to replace everything or are the parts something separate ?
Asked by: CruCru
Hi CruCru,
Thanks so much for contacting Delta Faucet Company!
The ESSA® MODEL#: 9113-DST will require the TRINSIC® DIAMOND™ Valve MODEL#: RP73000 to stop the leaking. It is possible that a flush could resolve this issue. First, shut off the hot and cold-water supply to flush the supply line. Remove the hot supply line from the shut-off valve and place the line into a bucket. Open the handle to the fully open middle position, and then turn the cold supply back on for one minute. The cold water should flow through the faucet and out the hot supply tube. Reconnect the supply line and repeat with the second line. If this does not help, please let us know.
Please reach out with further questions!

The reason so many people are having trouble with the set screw is it’s not long enough to actually engage the threads on the valve stem. This is a a design flaw Delta should correct. $45 for kit that won’t work after purchase of $400 faucet. Quality?
