Attractive & Functional
This grab bar is sturdy & pleasing to the aesthetics of the bathroom. The best part is it doesn't look like a "handicap" attachment. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the angle of the actual handle is perfect! The photo suggests the handle is completely round, but it isn't & it's size is perfect for dainty & very large hands. The 12" bar is on the wall as you exit the shower. I also purchased the 36" bar for the inside wall of my shower & it doesn't distract one bit from my new, modernized walk-in shower with clear "barn style" doors.

Sold product, challenging mounting system
Good solid grab bar, well styled. The mounting design introduces 2 issues: the bar mounts to the plates with a through bolt which must be perfectly aligned or it is a no-go. Secondly, the though-bolts are tightened from opposite sides, so there is no way to mount within 2" or an inside corner or flange (such as right outside a tub surround or tile that protrudes from the wall). Keep these in mind before you purchase.

Could this also be used lower in the shower to prop a foot on for shaving? Would it hold the weight of a leg propped on it?
Thank you for your question, Linda! Model 41712-BL can be installed lower on the shower wall. This Assist Bar can provide support and increased stability for an individual weighing up to 500 pounds. Can this be used as a shower door handle?

Thank you for your question. The Delta 12" Transitional Grab Bar 41712-BL can be installed as a shower door handle, but would not be considered as ADA complaint. This unit is ADA compliant when installed as it is advised on the technical specifications and maintenance/installation guide. Wood blocking is preferable behind all wall surfaces for this unit install. If wood blocking is not available, the supplied fasteners are recommended. My Sterling walk in shower has backer boards behind all three walls. I think that the 2 and 1/2" wood screw may be to long for the boards, also my walls are made of Vikrell. What's best bit to use to drill into this material?

Our Delta Faucet 12" Transitional Decorative ADA Grab Bar In Chrome MODEL#: 41712 Require installation of 2 1/2" wood screws, alterations could cause issues with the installation and void the warranty. We would recommend a 1/4" drill bit to drill into your shower surround, please contact a professional if you need further assistance.
