Thank you for your question, Monica! The R3500-WL rough-in valve has 1/2" NPT (National Pipe Tapered thread). Other plumbing fittings have straight or parallel threads, but NPT fittings have a tapered thread profile so we do not recommend attempting to install this tub spout onto this rough-in valve as the RP43028SS tub spout is meant to be sweat onto 1/2" C.W.T.(copper) or threaded onto 1/2" IPS (Iron pipe). Any other installation will most likely leak. T5797-WL has a 12 in. long spout. We would suggest returning this trim in exchange for one with a shorter spout such as T3561LF-WL which has the shortest spout length of the wall mounts we currently offer at 5-5/8". Due to the variation in potential installations (such as sink depth or vessel sink height), we leave it up to the installer to determine the best height for the faucet. We suggest taking into consideration the trim that you will use and installing it to allow at least 2 inches of clearance above a natural position for washing your hands or anything you expect to fill. Thank you for your question, BehindTile! I'm sorry to hear there is a blockage and we are happy to help. You will first need to turn both the hot and cold water off to this unit, room or home. The set screws for your Ara handles can be found on the side, behind the lever. The spouts set screw is located below. After removing the trim pieces, you will then remove all internal components including the flow restrictor as seen on your parts diagram below. You can then turn the water back on slowly to flush out any debris. Make sure to check the aerator for any remaining sediment.
