Why is the hot with the lever down and the cold with the lever up per the red and blue dots on the handle? The is backwards from conventional faucets. My faucets were installed the builder so is it possible handle incorrectly

Thank you for contacting Delta Faucet Company!
With our 90-degree valve cartridges, the handles will move outward for cold water and rotate down for hot water. This helps prevent scalding when turning the faucet on.
