can RP71717 cartridge work with R11000 rough-in?

I want to switch between 2 different outs, without sharing. I have the R11000 rough-in and the T11800 trim kit. Reading the instructions for the T11800, I see that in the middle position it'll send to both outs. I don't want it to send to both outs. 1.Can I use the RP71717 in place of the 3-function cartridge in the T11800? 2.Is there a different trim kit for the R11000 that uses a 2-function cartridge? 3. If neither of the above works, what combination of rough-in and trim kit do i need to have a valve with just 2 settings, (all one side or all the other)?
Asked by: andy
Hi Andy, Thank you for your question! The RP71717 will work with the R11000 rough-in valve and T11800 trim. This will eliminate the shared function. Thanks, Jon

what is the flow rate for the diverter with r11000 and rp71717 shower valve is r1000unws

Asked by: jojo123
Thank you for your question, jojo! The flow rate is determined by the PSI available to the home as well as the trim used. An R10000-UNWS will have a slightly reduced flow because of the stops but should provide approximately 4.5gpm @40 PSI when using a 13/14 and 17 series trim. The same trims can provide up to 6.5gpm if the home has 80PSI. The 17T Thermostatic trim kits will provide approximately 5.5gpm - 7.7gpm with this valve body. Please note that the flow rate will be further reduced with the addition of a diverter valve and trim so this will depend mostly on the PSI of the home. Best regards, Edward

If I install this cartridge RP71717 with the T11859 trim and R11000 rough in valve to control a showerhead and handshower only, will it make it so that there is no shared setting? I.e. only the showerhead runs OR the handshower runs, but not both at once?

Asked by: plumbingconundrum
Hi, Plumbingconundrum. Thank you for your question. The Delta RP71717 Diverter Cartridge Assembly is a two-setting non-shared cartridge and will only allow one shower component on at once. Best Regards, Rosanna

My shower is already finished and my installer plugged the left side but the diverter will not let water to the wand. It just shuts off the shower head water. Can I get a diverter to work properly with the left side plugged??

Asked by: Amy Sue
Hi Amy Sue, Thank you for your question! Without uninstalling the valve the alternative solution would be is to install an RP51919 six setting diverter cartridge. There will be some "dead spots" when switching positions but this will forego the need to replace the valve altogether. Please reach out with further questions! What is the advantage of using this diverter over the 3 setting diverter?  If use the RP71717 and forego the shared setting, does it mean I will obtain more pressure at either the shower head or the hand held unit?

Asked by: davidkor
Hi davidkor, Thank you for your question about the Delta Faucet RP71717 non-shared diverter cartridge. It is not designed to provide more water flow than a shared cartridge. The reason for this part is that some plumbing codes may not allow multiple outlets to run simultaneously. Please reach out if you have any additional questions! My handheld shower will not work when I change over the Diverter. What can I do to get this to work.

Asked by: Sag and Sons
Hi Sag and Sons, Thank you for your question about the Delta Faucet RP71717. This diverter cartridge would direct the water flow to the left or top outlets. I recommend checking that the hand shower is connected to one of these outlets and that the right side outlet is plugged. A 6-setting shared or 3-setting non-shared diverter cartridge can be used if the incorrect outlet is plugged. Please reach out if you have any additional questions! Will the RP71717  2 setting non shared fit in a r22000-ws multi choice uni integrated shower diverter rough in with stops using  a T27859 17 series valve trim with a 3 setting diverter. I want just either the hand shower on or the fixed shower head on.

Asked by: Sandy
Hello Customer! Thank you for your question and we are happy to help. The Delta RP71717 diverter will work with the Delta T27859 for a 2 setting shower. With any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us again. Best Regards, Carrie

I have rp71717. Plumber capped outlet 2. Outlet 1 goes to shower head. Outlet 3 goes to spray. I think rp71717 is set up to flow water to outlets 1 & 2. How can I use my rp71717 cartridge to direct flow to outlets 1 & 3?

Asked by: Grrry
Hello Grrry, Thank you for your question, I would be happy to help you. The cartridge you would need is RP71718, This is a 3 function non shared. The cartridge will give water from 1 & 3, but it will have a dead spot when handle is in outlet 2. Please contact us back for any further questions or concerns. Best Regards, Nicole

what does it means by shared or non shared cartridge?

Asked by: Sonny
Hello Sonny, Thank you for your question about the Delta Faucet RP71717 Diverter Cartridge Assembly. I apologize for any difficulty finding this information. I know that can be frustrating. We are happy to help! A non-shared cartridge will have settings for each individual shower feature. A shared cartridge has individual settings and will also have settings that run two shower features at once. For two shower features, use either the RP71717 2-setting non-shared or the RP51918 3-setting shared. For three shower features, use either the RP71718 3-setting non-shared or the RP51919 6-setting shared. Please reach out at customerservice@deltafaucet.com or 1-800-345-DELTA if you have any questions or need additional assistance. Thank you for being a loyal Delta Faucet customer. Best regards, Bryan

Hi, can I use this with R22000-WS?  And if I do, can I cap the pipe on the left side? Also, if I don’t buy this and I just cap the pipe on the left side, how would that be different from using this thing?

Asked by: Mondo
Hello Mondo! Thank you for your question! I am happy to help you. This diverter cartridge can be used with the Delta R22000 valve. You cannot cap the left port of the diverter valve. It will cause the diverter to not work properly. Plumbing to this diverter valve must be done to the right port if only 2 accessories are being used. Please contact us back for any further questions.
