The aerator on my Delta Eldridge 1984-2Z-DST refuses to unscrew, I can spin it counter clockwise with the included tool but it just spins endlessly without loosening and backing out. How do I get it out?

The faucet includes an aerator wrench to remove or tighten the aerator where the water comes out. A replacement aerator and wrench is part number RP90248. I purchased the Delta Eldridge with shield spray technology, I would prefer the regular spray head that doesn't have the shield spray. Can I just switch the head on the faucet?

How does the single handle work?

How do I take apart the pull-down nozzle (normally the nozzle unscrews to clean out debris)? I live in LA & the water supply here is full of bits & chunks that need to be cleaned out of the aerators regularly, but I can't figure out how yours comes apart.
