Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor design and engineering Will not output hot water. Internal mechanism is broken and will only supply cold water.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great faucet! This faucet looks great and is high quality. Our plumber thought it was a great choice!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Started dripping within months Had a plumber purchase and install this faucet. It was ok for a few months and then started dripping. After reading some of these reviews I’m thinking I need to replace the cartridge, but I kept thinking it was too soon. I should still be under warranty but the plumber disposed of the packaging. Is there anywhere else to find this information?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Looks great ….not happy with the diamond cartridge I've hd this installed when i had a granite top installed about 5 years ago still looks great. Not very pleased with the “diamond cartridge” i had to replace it twice, this time will be #3 . The first time it leaked into, the sink, the second time under the sink and onto the floor which had to be replaced…..in their defense they did send me a replacement cartridge free of charge. Now it is leaking again. Not sure what to do this time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A startling decline in quality My previous Leland lasted from 2008 until August of 2021 when the aerator began to deteriorate. Because at some point they changed the design of the Leland, I wound up having to get an entirely new faucet which Delta provided under warranty. I had to get this installed at considerable expense, and exactly 1 year later (08/22) I had to have them send me a new cartridge under warranty because it wouldn't close completely and it leaked. It is now 3/1/24 and it's leaking again, and will need its third cartridge in 3 years. Keep in mind my original made it 12 years on one cartridge. Furthermore, the old Leland used a mechanical clip to retain the sprayer head, but the new one uses a magnet. That magnet failed almost immediately and now the sprayer head just hangs. Overall I am incredibly disappointed in the nosedive in quality that Delta has apparently taken. This is also a $650 faucet, not the $59 Lowe's builder special, which makes this dismal quality all that more unacceptable. Do better, Delta.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 2nd one and also JUNK!!! The second Leland and it's JUNK just like the first oneIt is very difficult to get this faucet in the exact position where it doesn't drip. There are many reviews saying the same, and I am frankly baffled that there are so many 5 star reviews as well. Delta's response is to engage in a lengthy process to flush out the hot and cold lines. I had this faucet for about 9 months and finally threw it out. The faucet I replaced it with requires no such flushing and easily turns off without drips. In my opinion this faucet design is defective and should not be sold.  Bought the 9178 DST it has very little water flow from it . All water lines were flushed. I would never recommend this faucet to anyone. e to hire my plumber to replace. To date, I will have spent too much time and effort phoning Delta and almost as much on my plumber as I have these faucets. Although I love the look, I can't afford to use Delta products ever again. So disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from solid faucet no complaints good pressure and temp select, install was easy with included wrench. magnet failed within 6mos, but delta sent replacement magnets and it's been 3yrs no issues. cleaned out both screens once a year (not hard water) had some problems with dripping bit tightened up the bolt behind sprayer and not an issue. can't take apart sprayer head with wrench...way too hard as there's a slight leak from bottom (separate from the stream or sprayer) and I bet a clean out would help, but it's stuck and included wrench with teeth cams out before i can loosen it...very minor beef after 3 yeara. LOVE THAT LASER STREAM!

Preguntas y respuestas

I have questions about the Delta Leland kitchen faucet. First, what is the difference between arctic stainless and spot shield stainless? Which one is more likely to match the color of a basic stainless sink?  Does the handle move forward and backward?

Asked by: mello
Hi, Mello! Thank you for your question. Arctic Stainless is a brushed finish like Stainless Steel. Over the years, the color of stainless steel used on appliances and sinks has migrated from warmer tones, with more red in the color spectrum, to lighter tones where blue is more predominant. Arctic Stainless features cooler metallic tones, following a trend seen throughout the kitchen. SpotShield Stainless is a spot-resistant, warm, low-gloss finish with warmer tones, similar to brushed nickel. The Delta 9178-SP-DST Faucet handle rotates forward for hot water. Best Regards, Rosanna

Dear Washington. Thank you for your question. The Delta Leland Pull-Down kitchen model 978 (model style)- AR (Finish/color)- DST (Diamond Seal Technology). Delta Faucet Company’s DIAMOND Seal Technology is an exclusive new water delivery system that eliminates water’s contact with potential metal contaminants once water is inside the faucet. faucet handle spins all the way around

I attempted to adjust this faucet handle as it was causing the faucet to leak somewhat. when i removed the set screw holding the faucet on and then retightened the scew the faucet handle now feels loose and spins 360 degrees. im looking to get this repaired but im not sure if i need a new handle or if it is the cartridge the handle goes onto that needs to be replaced.
Asked by: jasimek
Hi jasimek, Thank you for your question. It sounds like either the set screw is not tight enough, or the screw is not in contact with the stem portion of the dst cartridge. Make sure the cartridge is seated properly, and that the bonnet and sleeve assembly are tightened correctly. The handle set screw should attach to the cartridge stem on the flat portion of the stem preventing the handle from spinning. I have attached a link to the parts breakdown for the model 978-DST to help you with your repair. Hi Cesar, Thank you for your question. The model 9178-AR-DST requires a working pressure of 20 PSI. Each foot of elevation that your storage tank is about ground level will give approximately .433 PSI. For example 100' of elevation will result in 34.4 psi. Thanks, Dave

Stainless steel vs arctic finish

We have 2 year old whirlpool appliances and will be installing a countertop with Solera SR305 sink under counter mount stainless steel sink. Your opinion please on the arctic or stainless steel finish for delta leader faucet 19978 or 9178 This is a one shot deal so I need to get it right. Thanks
Asked by: Diane
Hi Diane, Thank you for your question. There is a slight difference between the Delta Faucet Stainless Steel finish and the Delta Faucet Artic Stainless finish. Stainless Steel has a gold tone to it and is mostly used in the bath. Artic Stainless has a blue tint to it and more closely matches stainless steel appliances out in the market today. It is only used in the kitchen. Thanks, Dave

Hello - I have a Single Handle Pull-Down Kitchen Faucet with ShieldSpray® Technology Leland® - Model#: 9178-AR-DST. Can this be mounted so the handle is facing the front versus a side mount so that the handle is over the sink? Thanks

Asked by: Jane
Hello Jane, Thank you for your question. We recommend installing the Delta Leland Pull-Down Kitchen 9178-AR-DST faucet with the handle on the right. You may install it with the handle on the front or left side, but the temperature adjustment will be opposite of the standard operation for single handle faucets. You can compensate for this by swapping the hot and cold supply lines under the sink. However, the red/blue button will no longer indicate the correct temperature. Best regards, Tanya

We’ve had our 9178-DST for 5 months & constantly have water puddles from our hands on our Quartz countertop. Constantly drying around the faucet. Can we move this so the handle is in the front instead of the right side and has anyone else done this.

Asked by: Shari
Thank you for your question, Shari! This Delta model can be installed with the handle in front if desired. You will simply need a helper to hold the faucet in place while you loosen the mounting nut below the counter just enough to reposition the faucet. You may also want to consider upgrading to the Touch20 version of this model which will allow you turn the faucet on or off with a quick flick of the wrist. https://www.deltafaucet.com/kitchen/product/9178T-DST Best regards, Edward
