Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can’t go write no with these Take it from a plumber that these are great. I always buy the tub and shower kit even if it’s only a shower. The price difference isn’t to bad. And I now have a back up tub spout in case a customer needs it. Mine for some reason had the wrong finish shower head in it and is missing the screws for the cove. Which is a first for me. (1 out of at least a 100). Just glad it was mine not a customer. So I bought a hand held shower sprayer. Which I rather have anyway. At the time of this photo the shower head was broke but delta has sent out the new parts and will be back in business.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Trim Kit I am very pleased with these shower/tub trim kits. They work with the very common r10000 series valves, that was one of the main reasons for my purchase. We installed 2 of these in our new home and really like the finish and function. One thing to take note is you can adjust the set points for the maximum temp, I didn’t realize this at first.

I am in need of a replacement handle for my Delta shower faucet for BT14496-OB.

Tub Spout Question

Hello, I have a couple follow up questions to a previous Q & A you have listed here. #1 - You mention that the tub spout (RP64721) can either thread onto a 1/2" iron pipe or slip on to a 1/2" copper pipe with set screw...But, there's no hole for a set screw. #2 - You state that the copper pipe should be 1 1/2" - 2 3/4" from finished wall. That's a big difference and I want the tub spout to mount flush (and tight) against the finished wall. It doesn't seem like there's a full 1 1/4" of wiggle room to ensure the tub spout is tight and flush against the finished wall. What's the exact recommended copper pipe length? Thanks, Mike
Asked by: Mike
Dear Mike, Thank you for your questions. The tub spout (RP64721) that comes with the Delta Windemere Tub/Shower BT14496-OB model can be either thread onto a 1/2" iron pipe or slipped on to a 1/2" copper pipe with the adapter and set screw, that comes with it. The set screw would be located on the underside of the adapter, that slips on the pipe. The adapter with set screw is not used in the threaded connection/installation, only the slip on connection/installation. The tub spout pipe/tube is recommended to extend 1 1/2" - 2 3/4" from the finished wall. Best regards, Tanya

HOW DO I ADJUST THE WATER PRESSURE?

Asked by: MRGRIZZ
Hello, MRGRIZZ. Thanks for your question. The handle rotates counter-clockwise to turn the faucet on. Cold water will flow first and the temperature will increase the further you turn it and it will run at a constant flow rate. A Volume Control such as the U4760-PK can be purchased separately if you wish to have volume control at warm temperatures. https://www.deltafaucet.com/bathroom/product/U4760-PK Best regards, Jon

Will this work with the older monitor series (18yrs old)

Asked by: Chuck
Hi Chuck, Thank you for your question. The BT14496-OB tub and shower trim will work with an older 1300/1400 series rough in valve. The new trim will ship with a new cartridge. This cartridge will not work with the older rough in valve. You will have to continue to use the existing cartridge or replace it with a new RP19804. Thanks, Dave

Is there a way to increase the water pressure?

Asked by: Katie G
Thank you for your inquiry, Katie G! The Delta Windemere Shower BT14496-OB faucet is not designed with an increasing/decreasing pressure adjustment. We would advised making sure the stops (if you have them) are fully open and flushing the valve out, if you are getting low pressure. https://www.deltafaucet.com/video-gallery/video-page?videoId=aHDE586LwYk Best regards, Tanya

What is the purpose of the "stops" in the Multichoice universal tub shower rough.

Asked by: Donald
Hi, Donald! Thank you for your question. The 'stops' on the MultiChoice R10000-UNWS allows you to turn the water off at the valve instead of having to turn the water off for the whole home. Best Regards, Rosanna

Faucet

How do you remove the Faucet handle? thanks.
Asked by: Jon
Hi Jon, Thank you for your question. To remove the handle on the model BT14496-OB faucet you will first have to pry the button off of the end of the handle. Once the button is removed you can access the screw that holds the handle in place. Remove the screw by unscrewing it in a counter-clockwise direction. The handle can then be pulled from the faucet. Here is a link to the parts diagram for your faucet to help with the repair. http://www.deltafaucet.com/customersupport/documentation/bt14496-ob.html?document=pd&fromDetailArea=bath&documentIndex=0#flashWrapper Thanks, Dave

What diverter trim do you recommend to go with the Windemere? We are putting a handheld shower in along with this kit in stainless steel. Is it possible to order a Windemere handle to change out on another diverter? Just want a cohesive look. Thank you!

Asked by: Denise
Hi, Denise! Thank you for your question. The Delta Monitor BT14496 tub and shower trim kit does not have a matching diverter trim kit. Another collection that will match will be our Linden Collection. The diverter trim kit is T11994. Unfortunately the handle for the Delta Monitor BT14496 tub and shower trim kit will not fit this diverter trim kit. Best Regards, Rosanna

What type of rough-in can I use with this model?

The product page says to use MultiChoice Universal rough valve body. But there are quite a few different models. Can I use R10000-UNWS or R10000-UNBX? What is the difference by the way?
Asked by: nyung
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # BT14496-SS can be completed with any of the R10000 models. The difference between Delta Faucet model # R10000-UNBX and R10000-UNWS is the R10000-UNWS is equipped with screwdriver stops on the valve. This allows the user to turn off the water at the valve to do work on the shower instead of turning off the water in the whole house.

slip on tub spout

I purchased a bt14496 to replace a replace a Delta single lever shower only unit. I am installing a tub / shower to replace just a shower.Apparently the tub spout is a slip on type. I have a few questions. 1- Is this a shark bite type fitting in the spout that is self sealing? 2-can cpvc pipe be used for the spout or only copper? 3-instructions do not say how far out of the wall the pipe needs to be. How far does pipe need to fit in the spout? 4-can the pipe be dry fitted and removed without fear of leaking 5-lastly, will this bt14496 unit fit in the valve body that my 1323 single lever shower only is in? thanks
Asked by: riven
Hi Riven, Thank you for your questions. The tub spout has a removable adapter that can thread onto 1/2" iron pipe or can slip onto 1/2" copper piping. To slip install this you would just push it back on the copper piping and thread the set screw on the underside in. The copper piping should be cut 1 1/2 - 2 3/4" from the finished wall. BT14496 trim will fit over your existing valve and cartridge. Best Regards, Courtney

Hello Jocko, Thank you for your question! I am happy to help you! Our new Delta faucet 14 series including the BT14496-OB can be attached to the older pre 2006 valves. I have to pull up on the faucet knob to activate the shower for 30 seconds before the water comes out of the shower head. The faucets and house are only 2 years old. Turning the shower on worked fine for the first year, then it slowly was more difficult.

Asked by: Mike B
Hello Mike B, Thank you for your question! We apologize for the shower now activating as quickly as it should and I am happy to assist you! The most common cause of prohibited flow is debris. The best way to clear any debris is to flush the supply lines. To do this, turn off the water supplies, remove the cartridge, and turn the supplies back on for one minute. Please make sure that you are getting good flow through both the hot and cold sides while flushing. You can also shake the cartridge back and forth to make sure the back half of the cartridge rattles. This means that the pressure-balancing spool is moving freely, as it should. If it does not, you can try soaking the cartridge in white vinegar for about 15-30 minutes. Please contact us back with any further questions. Best Regards, Skyler
