Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor design and engineering Will not output hot water. Internal mechanism is broken and will only supply cold water.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great faucet! This faucet looks great and is high quality. Our plumber thought it was a great choice!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Started dripping within months Had a plumber purchase and install this faucet. It was ok for a few months and then started dripping. After reading some of these reviews I’m thinking I need to replace the cartridge, but I kept thinking it was too soon. I should still be under warranty but the plumber disposed of the packaging. Is there anywhere else to find this information?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Looks great ….not happy with the diamond cartridge I've hd this installed when i had a granite top installed about 5 years ago still looks great. Not very pleased with the “diamond cartridge” i had to replace it twice, this time will be #3 . The first time it leaked into, the sink, the second time under the sink and onto the floor which had to be replaced…..in their defense they did send me a replacement cartridge free of charge. Now it is leaking again. Not sure what to do this time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A startling decline in quality My previous Leland lasted from 2008 until August of 2021 when the aerator began to deteriorate. Because at some point they changed the design of the Leland, I wound up having to get an entirely new faucet which Delta provided under warranty. I had to get this installed at considerable expense, and exactly 1 year later (08/22) I had to have them send me a new cartridge under warranty because it wouldn't close completely and it leaked. It is now 3/1/24 and it's leaking again, and will need its third cartridge in 3 years. Keep in mind my original made it 12 years on one cartridge. Furthermore, the old Leland used a mechanical clip to retain the sprayer head, but the new one uses a magnet. That magnet failed almost immediately and now the sprayer head just hangs. Overall I am incredibly disappointed in the nosedive in quality that Delta has apparently taken. This is also a $650 faucet, not the $59 Lowe's builder special, which makes this dismal quality all that more unacceptable. Do better, Delta.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 2nd one and also JUNK!!! The second Leland and it's JUNK just like the first oneIt is very difficult to get this faucet in the exact position where it doesn't drip. There are many reviews saying the same, and I am frankly baffled that there are so many 5 star reviews as well. Delta's response is to engage in a lengthy process to flush out the hot and cold lines. I had this faucet for about 9 months and finally threw it out. The faucet I replaced it with requires no such flushing and easily turns off without drips. In my opinion this faucet design is defective and should not be sold.  Bought the 9178 DST it has very little water flow from it . All water lines were flushed. I would never recommend this faucet to anyone. e to hire my plumber to replace. To date, I will have spent too much time and effort phoning Delta and almost as much on my plumber as I have these faucets. Although I love the look, I can't afford to use Delta products ever again. So disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from solid faucet no complaints good pressure and temp select, install was easy with included wrench. magnet failed within 6mos, but delta sent replacement magnets and it's been 3yrs no issues. cleaned out both screens once a year (not hard water) had some problems with dripping bit tightened up the bolt behind sprayer and not an issue. can't take apart sprayer head with wrench...way too hard as there's a slight leak from bottom (separate from the stream or sprayer) and I bet a clean out would help, but it's stuck and included wrench with teeth cams out before i can loosen it...very minor beef after 3 yeara. LOVE THAT LASER STREAM!

The spec indicates a min clearance of 2.5 inches from center of hole for faucet to backsplash. I only have 2 inches.  Why is 2.5 inches needed since the handle goes forward and not back? Will 2 inches work?

Asked by: Bridget
Thank you for your question, Bridget! The minimum clearance to the back splash is typically suggested for lavatory models with lift rods or for models where the handle does reach backwards. This is still suggested for maximum comfort and ease of use with the handle; however this model can still work with only 2". Best regards, Edward

I see where you have answered the question about the difference between Model 9178 and 9678. What is the difference between those and Model 19978?

Asked by: Kathy61
Hello Kathy 61, Thank you for your question. The Delta Leland Pull-Down 19978-SS-DST faucet is a Home Depot exclusive model and it is similar to the Leland 9178-AR-DST faucet. However, the 9178-AR-DST is designed with the ShieldSpray feature and the 19978-SS-DST model is not. https://media.deltafaucet.com/SpecSheet/DSP-K-19978-SD-DST%20Rev%20C.pdf Best regards, Tanya

Asked by: Melody
Hi, Melody! Thank you for your question. The 9178-AR-DST Arctic Stainless will show water spots. We recommend to wipe clean with a soft towel. If you should need something stronger, we recommend 50% white vinegar and 50% water solution to clean. Best Regards, Rosanna

Water pressure has become low at kitchen faucet. How do we take the sprayer apart to clean it?

Asked by: Cathy
Thank you for your question, Cathy! This Leland model included a cashe aerator wrench, part number RP50815 that is used to remove this aerator counterclockwise. It is designed to clip onto the Pex supply line below the counter but a pair of needle nose pliers may be carefully used in its place. We would also recommend removing the entire wand from the hose and spraying directly into the sink. https://www.deltafaucet.com/parts-product-detail?modelNumber=RP50815 Best regards, Edward

I have the Delta Leland touch faucet 9178 TAR DST. Can it still work when the batteries go dead

Asked by: LID
Hi LID, Thank you for your question! The light will flash red when the batteries are low. You can remove the batteries while the water is running to switch to manual mode. You can also turn the faucet off with the handle, disconnect the solenoid, and connect the hose directly to the faucet to bypass the solenoid. Best regards, Jon

What is the difference between the 978-RB-DST, the 9978-RB-DST and the 978-RBWE-DST faucets? Also, can you get this type faucet with the 2.2 GPM wand?

Asked by: Confused
Thank you for your questions. Delta Faucet model # 978-RB-DST is a kitchen faucet that flows at 1.8 gpm at 60 psi. Delta Faucet model # 978-RBWE-DST is the same kitchen faucet as above but it flows at 1.5 gpm at 60 psi. Lastly, Delta Faucet model # 9978-RB-DST is the same faucet as the other two but in a smaller version for a bar/prep faucet. It flows at 1.8 gpm at 60 psi. We do not make a version of this faucet that will flow at 2.2 gpm at 60 psi.

Is there a method to keep the Leland faucet centered on the plate provided to cover the extra sink holes? Mine keeps sliding all over the place leaving a gaping grin were it fits onto the cover plate.

Asked by: Mr Streck 88yrs
Hi, Mr Streck 88yrs! Thank you for your question. I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing an issue with your Delta 9178-AR-DST faucet. We recommend to tighten the mounting nut for the faucet, under the sink to secure. You may also use a bit of silicon sealant around the plate at the sink base to secure the plate. I plan to replace my kitchen faucet with the Leland 9178-AR-DST. The 9178 spec sheet indicates that the temperature handle movement is from centerline of the body away from the sink. The Q&A seems to contradict this. Please clarify?

Asked by: TomA1
Hello TomA1, Thank you for your question. The handle of the Delta Leland Pull-down Kitchen 9178-AR-DST faucet operates by moving/pushing it away/outwards from the faucet to turn on the cold water. Rotating the handle towards the back to adjust for warm and hot water. Best regards, Tanya

Is Venetian Bronze still available? The photos look suspiciously like oil-rubbed bronze. We are replacing a faucet in our kitchen, and there are two sinks in close proximity. It will be obvious if the finishes are not the same.

Asked by: david524
Thank you for your question, david524! Delta model 978-RB-DST is only offered in Venetian Bronze which is a dark chocolate brown color with copper brushed highlights throughout. Oil Rubbed Bronze is a much darker, almost black finish with copper accents but without brushed marks. Best regards, Edward

We have Frigidaire's Gallery series stainless steel appliances in our kitchen (Like this: https://www.frigidaire.com/Kitchen-Appliances/Refrigerators/French-Door-Refrigerator/FGHB2868TF/). Will the Arctic Stainless or Spotshield Stainless match better?

Asked by: agolin
Hi, agolin! Thank you for your question. Arctic Stainless is a brushed finish like Stainless Steel. Over the years, the color of stainless steel used on appliances and sinks has migrated from warmer tones, with more red in the color spectrum, to lighter tones where blue is more predominant. Arctic Stainless features cooler metallic tones, following a trend seen throughout the kitchen. Stainless Steel is has warmer tones, similar to brushed nickel. Best Regards, Rosanna

Difference in finishes

What is the difference between your arctic stainless finish and your stainless finish? Does one match stainless steel appliances better than the other?
Asked by: cagriffie
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet Artic Stainless finish has a bluish tint to it and does more closely resemble the stainless steel appliances that are out in the market today. Delta Faucet Stainless Steel finish has a more gold finish to it and is used in the bathroom to match the gold toned finishes there.

Is this model the exact same where ever it is purchased?

My plumber installed this model 9178-Chrome-DST and charged me $769 for the faucet set, soap dispenser, and installation. When I told him the set was $200 on Amazon with free Prime shipping and so I thought the additional $569 was a bit high for installation his reply was that the quality of his Delta faucet was much better than what I could buy online, because he is a plumber. Is this true? Isn't a Model 9178 Chrome DST the same wherever it is bought??
Asked by: Theresa B
Dear Theresa B, Thank you for your question. We appreciate your interest in Delta faucets. All Delta faucets feature the same quality parts, materials, and workmanship, no matter what kind of dealer sells them. Delta retail dealers usually sell faucets that include the handles in the boxes. Plumbing professionals and Delta Studio Showrooms sell faucets where the faucets and handles are packaged and sold separately ("LHP" models), giving the customer some additional styling choices. However, the quality of all Delta faucets is the same. Best regards, Tanya

Asked by: Barb
Thank you for your question, Barb! When the faucet is installed with the handle on the right, the full cold position is when the handle is tilted away from the faucet and toward you. Moving it away from you will increase the temperature and moving it toward the faucet will reduce the volume. Best regards, Jon

Can the faucet handle be mounted on the left side rather than the right?  If not, is there a similar faucet with a left side handle?

Asked by: Diane
Hello Diane, Thank you for your inquiry! We recommend installing the Delta Linden Pull-Down Kitchen 9178-AR-DST faucet with the handle on the right. You may install it with the handle on the front or left side, but the temperature adjustment will be opposite of the standard operation for single handle faucets. You can compensate for this by swapping the hot and cold supply lines under the sink. However, the red/blue button will no longer indicate the correct temperature. Best regards, Tanya
