I especially like the separate Volume and Temperature control levers. I can reduce the volume but turn up the temperature. This has been an excellent shower faucet.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not what I expected We converted to a walk in shower from tub and shower that had separated hot and cold faucet. I was told by sales rep and Delta customer service that the multi choice series 17 would be able to adjust volume and temperature individually just like my old tub one. Not so. The low volume is only cold water. To get hot or warm I have to turn the volume control at least half way of the rotation when the volume is full force. It works okay but disappointed I can not get the low volume warm water. My wife likes high volume but I like low volume. I am surprised that Delta can make a single lever kitchen faucet low volume warm but not a shower faucet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite style shower control I’ve remodeled several bathrooms and love this model. The separate temperature setting is very convenient vs the shutoff. You can usually set in place once, shutoff the water then just turn the main lever on and you have a shower at the same temperature every time. Installing is simple and easy to do even though the plumber who did the rough in put the cartridge in sideways. It took 30 seconds to correct his mistake.

This way you can set the temperature, and if you want to shut off the water for a short time and turn it back on the temp is right where you want it. Also allows for flow control at the set temp.

I thoroughly researched the options and selected this one because I wanted something simple, with a good handle, a powerful valve, from a good company. Delta is wonderful! Very happy with my choice. It does not match the other hardware, but is nice and simple in design so that it complements pretty much anything.

Installation was easy and straight forward and it works wonderfully. Simply turn the handle left or right to change temperature and it turns with ease. I would definitely recommend this to anyone hoping to update the look of their bath. A quick and easy remodel!

I had to make some alterations to the shower wall, but aside from that I was able to install the new faucet without any issues. Thankfully, I do my own home repair and improvement so I didn't have to ask anyone for help. I love the new faucet now, it works great. I would absolutely recommend these!

Second it was so easy to install. The valve and trim and handle were easy to put on. Just follow the easy to read instructions. I love that i just move the handle to how i want the water and so easy to adjust. A wonderful quality product that i will be sure to recommend to anyone needing these types of products.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Short-lived cartridges I have been a both a Delta installer and customer since the mid-1990's. I had trusted them and recommended them to customers time after time. In 2015, I remodeled the bathrooms in our home and replaced the original construction Moen faucets and valves with Delta products. In the master bath, I installed the Lahara 1700 series valve and trim. To date, I have been forced to replace the cartridge assembly four times. That is four times in 3-1/2 years. At an average of $56 per replacement, I have now spent more replacing the cartridges than I paid for the valve to begin with. The Moen valve that was original to the home was still operating perfectly with the original inner workings and had never been repaired or replaced. The Moen was still functioning properly after 22 years of daily use. The Delta, on the other hand, averaged just 328 days of use before the cartridge required replacement. After contacting Delta customer service the first time, I was told that it was potentially my water quality (treated city water) causing the problem. The second time, I received the same diagnosis. I gave up after the third time as the other valves in my home are working flawlessly. I would not recommend this valve and at this time have stopped recommending Delta to my customers as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great pressure balanced unity, but more of a plastic feel [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It does its job and has a solid cartridge. It does feel more on the plastic end for me. If that isn't an issue, I recommend this as a reliable valve kit unit.

What accessories go with this?

I am planning a tub to shower conversion and do not plan on having the tub spout at all. I have # 57014 showerhead and sliding bar, # 50560 elbow, and understand I need # R1000-UNBX valve. If I get T17038, is that everything I need for a new shower only setup? Thanks!

what is the differences between 17t series and 17 series?

does either cartridge need to be maintained?

Hi bj, Thank you for your question! Both series operate the same and do not require regular maintenance. The Monitor 17 series is pressure balanced. The TempAssure 17T series is thermostatic, which provides a more precise temperature control. The 17T series will also provide more flow from the valve if you are building a customer shower with multiple components. Best regards, Jon

What is the diameter of this trim?

How do I get the water hotter

Hi, Dave39! Thank you for your question. There is a rotational limit stop (RLS) at the temperature control to adjust the hot water limit. To adjust the RLS, first remove the temperature cover and take a phillips head screw driver and turn the set screw counter clockwise to remove. Remove the gray knob. Behind the knob, you should see a black disk. Take the disk and take it out and place the disk to the hotter side. The hot side should be up against the iron piece that is sticking down on the volume handle. Once adjusted, reinstall all handle parts. Best Regards, Rosanna

Do I need to caulk around the edges of the trim against the tile?

Why is the oring packaged in the same plastic bag with the bolts/hardware? I hope my trim does not leak once I install it because of a damaged oring.

Hi paprikaspiroska, Thank you for your question. The o-ring in the photo goes under the trim sleeve that covers up the valve body and helps hold the trim sleeve in place. The o-ring is not used to seal water from leaking. Thanks, Dave

How is the temperature knob removed? I can only find installation instructions, not removal. It's very lightweight plastic, and I don't want to snap anything by removing it incorrectly. I'd like to adjust the temperature. Thank you.

Hello KimM, Thank you for your question. The front temperature dial of the Delta Lahara Valve Trim T17038-SS model can be removed by grasping the peice on either side of the part and squeezing together gently. Then grasp the small handle and pull the cover off. You can also use a flathead screwdriver to pry it off. Best regards, Tanya
