Rated 5 out of 5 by from Universal with service stops [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great alternative valve to the traditional Universal valve because of the service stops. Being able to shut off the water at the valve and do work on it is essential, why wouldn’t you pick this one? For a few extra dollars you buy a lot of piece of mind.

What does back to back capability mean?

Shower rough in valve.
Asked by: Matt
Turning the valve upside down may be a little inaccurate or misleading. I am sure this is unintentional. If you go to the trim Monitor 17 Series "Maintenance and installation sheet" page 3, document 76652 Rev. G (https://media.deltafaucet.com/MandI/76652%20Rev.%20G.pdf) at bottom right corner of the page you will see clearly you need to reverse the cartridge "hot side" to the right side of the cartridge. This reverses the hot and cold internally within the cartridge making the operation of the unit functional as to hot and cold on the dial. Since this is being discussed on the R10000 valve body it is NOT recommended to turn the valve body upside down since this will cause problems, malfunctioning or in some cases the need to remove and turn over the valve for the trim to work. Depending on the materials used in the installation this could be a costly mistake.

The manual says that pex is not recommended for the tub connection. My understanding is that a 1/2 pex pipe may have too much flow restriction. I have read elsewhere using 3/4 pex will not have such issue. So can I use a 3/4 pex for tub side?

Asked by: Tommy
Hi, Tommy! Thank you for your question. We do not recommend using 3/4" PEX Supply Line from the tub spout up to the Delta MultiChoice Universal R10000-PX Rough Valve Body as it has a smaller internal diameter and will restrict flow to the tub spout assembly. We do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Best Regards, Rosanna

Is There Any Difference In Flow Rate Or Performance Differences From The Delta R10000-UNBX

Asked by: dcdc
Thank you for your question, dcdc! There is no difference between the performance or flow rate of these valves other than how they are installed. The R10000-PX is a Pex connection valve. Models with the "HF" suffix are for shower only installation and will have a higher flow rate whereas models with the "WS" suffix (with stops) will have a slightly lower flow rate depending on the series of trim used and the PSI to available. Hello, I currently have a PEX in my home. Which valve would you recommend? Shower only. No tub. Blue and Red type PEX Also, what does 'with stop' mean?

Asked by: turn0199
Hi, Turn0199! Thank you for your question. The Delta MultiChoice Universal R10000-PX Rough Valve Body will work with PEX lines. However, the bottom port will need to be plugged for shower only. Best Regards, Rosanna

Is this valve water connections for type A or Type B PEX?

Asked by: Cameron
For purposes of this conversation the valve IS the PEX fitting. What I want to know is the recommended TYPE of PEX Type A or Type B PEX connection for the "crimp" method? The difference is the type of barb that is on the valve itself. It does say "crimp" style valve however there are three styles of crimp fittings each is designed for either PEX A, B or C. They are not interchangeable. You may have meant the the valve is compatible with any PEX pipe. If this is the case I go back to my original question, "Is this valve water connections (crimp style) for Type A or Type B PEX?" However I do understand that the valve is designed for crimp fitting type PEX connectors.

How far into a one piece shower unit shoud the valve body protude?

When installing the universal valve with a one piece fiberglass shower unit. How far into the shower unit is the valve body to protrude? I come up with 1 1/8".
Asked by: JohnR
Hi JohnR, Thank you for your question. The stringer should be 2 3/4" from the finished wall, plus or minus 1/4". This will leave approximately 1 1/4" (+/- 1/4") extending from the wall, with the bonnet nut installed. Best regards, Jon

how to set the valve to turn to 9 O'clock. It only goes to 12 now.

Asked by: Bobby
Dear Bobby, Thank you for your question. Our tub and shower faucets have a rotational limit stop which allows you to control how far the handle will rotate to the hot side. Please check out the How-To Video I've linked below for help adjusting the stop. https://www.deltafaucet.com/video-gallery/video-page?videoId=n2_uZ7wgV1I Best regards, Tanya

im using your r1000px rough in valve. can this valve be rotated sideways shower facing left, hot on bottem, cold facing up and tub right?

the reason I want to mount it this way is because I'm putting a handheld shower only mounted beside a seat. I don't want to mount it the correct way because the handheld hose would get caught on the hot cold handle.
Asked by: derek
Hi Derek, Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, the valve cannot be installed this way. The tub spout requires a straight drop from the valve to prevent back pressure. If you prefer, you may install the handle so that the off position is at 9 o'clock instead of 3 o'clock. It will still rotate counter-clockwise to turn on, and will not align with the Hot, Cold, or Off markings on the escutcheon plate. Best regards, Jon

Do I need a diverter valve?

If I install this rough-in valve to be used for a shower and tub, do I need a diverter valve? If I do require a diverter, can you recommend a product to be used with this valve? Also, if I don't require a diverter valve, how can I switch from tub to shower flow?
Asked by: Dan
Hi Dan, Thank you for your question. The tub and shower trim kit will include a diverter tub spout, which will allow you to divert water to the shower head. No additional valve is needed. Best regards, Jon

Shower only valve with pex installation. Is that the R10000 PFS-PX. If it has a bottom port, is it plugged or would that have to be done after market? Or is there a model without a bottom port?

Asked by: Steve
Hi Steve, Thank you for contacting Delta Faucet Company! You can plug the bottom port of the R10000-PFS-PX if you are not planning to use a tub spout. The R10000-UNBXHF is our high-flow valve that is manufactured with the bottom port plugged for a shower-only installation. We appreciate your inquiry. We just built our home one year ago with Delta faucets installed. In one of our bathrooms, our Windemere BT14496SS faucet squeals when turned to "hot". I want to clean the valve, but can't see how to turn the water off at the valve. Any suggestions?

Asked by: Dave45040
Dear Dave45040, Thank you for contacting us back, I would be happy to help you. The water would need to be shut off at the main shut offs, I have also included the flushing instructions below. To flush the open valve without the cartridge, please follow the directions below. 1) Remove the handle by loosening the set screw on the side of the base of the handle. The set screw is either an 1/8" or 3/32" allen screw. So you will need to use the appropriate size allen wrench to loosen it. Loosen it just enough to be able to easily pull the handle off. * Note. If there is calcium build-up at the base of the handle it may be necessary to soak it in a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water. Simply saturate the rag with the 50/50 solution, wrap it around the handle base and place a plastic bag over it. I would recommend do this the night before removing the handle. 2) After removing the handle, remove the trim sleeve. 3) Then you will need to remove the bonnet nut. The bonnet nut is the threaded ring at the valve opening. It unscrews counterclockwise. You will need a pipe wrench or a pair of channel locks. 4) After removing the bonnet nut, you will need to pull the cartridge straight out. You may need a small skinny bladed screwdriver to wedge in between the lip of the cartridge and the valve to help start it out. 5) Once the cartridge is removed, you will have an open valve body. 6) Next, shut the shower door or curtain and turn the water on to the valve. Water should gush out much like an open fire hydrant. Have someone observe if there is good water pressure coming out of the valve and let flush for 30 seconds. 7) Re-install the cartridge and re-assemble in reverse of how it was disassembled. The Tub/Shower should then have a good flow. If it does not, the cartridge will need to be replaced. Please contact us back if you have any questions or need further assistance. We appreciate your business and look forward to continuing to serve you. Best Regards, Nicole
