can the multichoice valve be used for any brand trim
Is this valve truly universal (i.e. any brand) or just with any other delta products?
Asked by: bill j
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # R10000-UNBX is recommended for only Delta Faucet trims. We do not recommend using them with other brands.

Hi, I've purchased an R10000-UNBX valve body, an R11000 3/6 diverter rough in, overhead rain head, and set of 3 body sprays. What valve(s) do I purchase to add separate volume controls to the rain can and to the body sprays?
Asked by: Craftydad
Thank you for your question, Craftydad! The R11000 diverting valve can be used with a 6-setting cartridge to allow you to switch between three individual products or ports with independent as well as shared positions. If two of the body sprays are used on the same port, then you will not need another valve. The diverter rough will switch between these sprays, the shower head, as well as the third spray both by themselves as well as in shared functions. This will also work if you are wanting all of the sprays on one setting. You will only need a 3-setting diverter cartridge for that type of installation in which you can use the shower head and sprays alone or at the same time. Please feel free to contact us directly if you have any questions or need further assistance with this model.

Use of pex between R10000 and R11000
I'm using your R10000 valve and R11000 diverter, for a fixed and hand-held shower installation (no tub.)
Based on research I've already conducted I'm planning on installing the R10000 upside down (ie, using the tub spout outlet) and plugging the shower outlet instead, to maximize pressure to the diverter.
The R10000 installation instructions stipulate one restriction only; that is, that copper MUST be used for the tub spout drop.
My question, therefore, is this: can I use pex between the tub spout outlet and the diverter input?
Thank you.
Asked by: gazzerp
Hi gazzerp, Thank you for your question. In your shower only application you can use pex tubing on the connection from the upside down tub port to the R110000 diverter rough.
Thanks,
Dave

Does the platerguard stay attached to the rough-in or do I remove it after I complete my tile installation?
Asked by: dman97
Thank you for your question, dman97! The plaster guard can be left in place or removed in a standard installation. It is primarily used as a guide for cutting the hole in the wall but is used as a support in thin wall installations.

Correct valve body for BT14 series tube and shower
What is the best valve to use when installing the BT14 series tub and shower models? Based on other Q&A information, I believe it would be the R1000-UNWSBXT. Is that correct?
Asked by: Shawn
Thank you for your question. We would recommend using the R10000-UNWS unless you are mounting the faucet on an acrylic tub. The thin wall mount which is R10000-UNWSBXT is what we recommend for acrylic tubs.

new shower and no hot water, plumber didn't do something right I guess
Asked by: Deb
Hi Deb, Thank you for your question. The rotational limit stop is located at the end of the cartridge for most models and allows you to set the max hot water temperature for the faucet. Here is a link to our How to adjust the rotational limit video that covers our T13/T14, T17, and T17T faucets.

When was the R10000-UNBX introduced?
We're having our shower redone. We're also upgrading an old 14 series (Windemere I believe) to a newer Lahara. We have the wall open and the rough-in valve "looks" like it is the right one. My current one is circa 2000. Do you think the new Lahara will work with a rough-in valve this old? If we want to swap it out, now is the time to do it before the durock and tile go back on the wall.
Asked by: jreagan
Hi jreagan,
Thank you for your question. MultiChoice valves such as the R10000-UNBX began shipping in September of 2006. If you have a 1400 series unit made prior to this date, any current 14 series trim kit will work with the existing rough-in valve with the original cartridge rather, or RP19804, than the cartridge that comes with the kit.

valve was installed by a licensed plumber, but when you turn on the water goes from hot to cold vs. cold to hot. what is causing this - purchased new
This delta mixing valve replaced a Moen mixing valve. They both turn counter clock wise from cold to hot. Is this problem caused by a faulty cartridge?
Asked by: Richard
Thank you for your question.
If you are getting reversed water flow from hot and cold, you will need to remove the cartridge assembly and rotate it 180 degrees before reinstalling it back into the valve. This will correct the reversed water flow you are having.

Is the plaster guard removable -?
If the plasterguard were removed it would appear that the opening in the finished wall could be a much smaller hole - easier to drill with a hole saw in the existing tiled wall.
But is the plaster guard necessary to mount the escutcheon to or is it just to guide the install depth ?
Asked by: idler
Thank you for your question! The plastergaurd can be removed if the valve is installed on a stringer. It is designed as a guide for measuring the hole and the depth of the valve. If you choose not to use the plastergaurd as a guide to cut the hole, please make sure that the hole is large enough to access the screw holes.

Is there a way to adjust the temperature inside of the valve? When I move the lever all the way to hot it is still only warm. My hot water works perfectly everywhere else but just not this valve.
Asked by: Laythe
Thank you for your question, Laythe! The R10000 MultiChoice Universal valves do not control temperature as it is only a mixing valve. Your series may have a rotational limit stop that does come preset in the neutral or luke-warm position. This should be set at the time of installation and instructions on adjusting this setting can be found in your Maintenance and Installation guide. Please contact us directly if you need further assistance with this adjustment.

Asked by: Bill T
Hi Bill, Thank you for your question. The cartridge actually comes with whatever trim you select. The 13/14 series features a single function pressure balanced cartridge, the 17 series has a dual function pressure balanced cartridge, and the 17T series has a thermostatic cartridge. All will offer scald guard protection.

Hi, Art.
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, the Delta MultiChoice Universal R10000-UNBX Rough In Valve Body and tub spout must be installed between 8"-18" to prevent Shower Rise. A bigger pipe will not make a difference. I do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

I want to replace my existing shower.
I am looking at the shower / trim T17278 and separate slide bar handshower 57014. I want to be able to switch between the showerhead and handshower at the on / off control. I want to be able to have one or the other or both on at the same time .... Am I looking at the right products? What valve do I need to make this work?
Thanks
Asked by: Bob
you would want a R10000UNBX valve for the shower trim and also a R1000 transfer valve. one is a pressure balance valve and the other is a transfer valve. With a transfer valve you cannot have "shared" functions but you can have one or the other functions. best of luck.

Is this a temp balancing valve?
Will it prevent burns if someone flushes toilet?
Asked by: DIY Gal
Hi, DIY Gal!
Thank you for your question. The R10000-UNBX is the valve body that holds the valve cartridge in for your shower trim. All valve cartridges that can be used with this R10000-UNBX rough valve are pressure balanced or thermostatic so that you will not get scalded when using other plumbing in your home.

What can you do if your plastic square is sticking outside of the finished wall?
We had the plumbers come out to install the R10000UNWS along with the R11000 diverter. The diverter is perfect; however it seems that when we put up the wall board it just sits on top of the plastic square. It looks as though once we do the thin set and tile it will be flush. Is there something else we can do?
Asked by: blondie33015
Hi Blondie, Thank you for your question. For with stops models, which includes the R10000-UNWS the plasterguard must be flush or subflush 1/4" to finished wall. The finished wall would include the tile in your application.

Directions say that R10000-UNBXHF has universal inlets with expansion pex support, but also says use correct fittings. Does it come with the fittings? Or do you mean find a coupler from the IPS threads to an expansion barb? Thanks.
Asked by: James
Hello James,
Thank you for your question. The Delta MultiChoice Universal Rough-In Valve R10000-UNBX does not come with fittings for added piping. This valve will accept 1/2" copper, 1/2" iron pipe. PEX, or CPVC adapters. Keep in mind that if you install a tub spout, you will need copper between the valve and tub drop. Please feel free to call, email, or message us on social if there is anything else you need.
