I would like to know if this product will fit any Delta shower trim kit, or even a trim kit from another manufacturer like Kohler or Moen in case I want to change the trim in the future. Also, will this product work with a combination showerhead/handheld

Asked by: Linda
Hi, Linda! Thank you for your question. The Delta MultiChoice Universal R10000-UNWS rough valve body works with any of our Delta 13/14, 17, and 17T series trim kits. We cannot guarantee that they will fit with other brand trim kits. The valve body does work with both shower head and tub spout installations. Best Regards, Rosanna

Tankless/On Demand Water Heater Compatible?

We are looking on upgrading our water heater to some type of tankless style. Will this valve still operate properly with a tankless water heater? Have you had any issues/concerns with these installs?
Asked by: Kayla
Hi Kayla, Thank you for your question. The R10000-UNBX multichoice universal rough will not have any issues with a tankless water heater. We recommend using the valve with our 13/14 series trims with a single function pressure balanced cartridge or our 17 series trims with a dual function pressure balanced cartridge when using a tankless water heater. Does cartridge RP46074 fit MultiChoice R10000-UNWS roughin?

I bought a R10000-UNWS Delta Rough in with stops, and a trim kit T13291-LHD. The box of the trim kit says it fits multichoice universal valve. However, the cartridge type that came with the trim kit is RP46074 that has "longer lower housing". The extra length will cause the handle to be more than 4 inches away from the finished wall (which looks ugly) if we follow the instructions to install it such that the plaster guard of the multichoice roughin is flush with the finished wall. It seems that the plaster guard should be about 1 inch subflush with the finished wall. My question: Did I get the wrong cartridge, or are the multichoice valve instructions obsolete, or have I misunderstood it? Any advice is appreciated!
Asked by: wei
Thank you for your question Wei! RP46074 is the correct cartridge for the Multichoice R10000-UNWS valve and the plasterguard should be flush or subflush 1/4" to the finished wall according to the installation manual. Distance from the stringer to the front of the plasterguard is 2-3/4" ± 1/4" (70 mm ± 6 mm). Distance from the stringer to the front of the bonnet is intended to be 3 7/8" (99 mm.) This is for reference only. If you need further assistance with this installation you can call us directly at 1-800-345-3358. Best regards, Edward

Can I exceed the 18 inch max distance from valve to tub spout

I will be mounting a tub spout very near the floor of a shower stall and a rain head from the ceiling. I want to use the spout to drain the pipe to shower head and to let water warm up before diverting flow to rain head. The distance from valve to tub spout will be about 36 inches (3 times the max). Should I increase the size of the spout supply to 3/4 to reduce pressure so I don't have water flow through rain head until diverter is closed.
Asked by: Jon
Dear Jon, Thank you for your question. When using the Delta MultiChoice Universal Rough-In valve R10000-UN, the length between the valve and the tub spout has to be between 8"-18". If it is more than 18", you will have a situation called shower rise where water comes out of the showerhead when you only have the tub spout running. Best regards, Tanya

I have 1/2 copper supply behind my wall. If I want control shower head, tub spout, and shower wand from a diverter, would I use this R10000 along with the R11000 and a non diverting tub spout?

Asked by: Bernard
Hi, Bernard! Thank you for your question. We do recommend to install the R10000 MultiChoice valve body with a R11000 Diverter valve body to connect a shower head and hand shower. We recommend to install a diverter tub spout to the bottom port of the R10000 MultiChoice valve body. You will then be able to divert the water from the tub spout to the R11000 diverter assembly. Asked by: Terry
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # R10000-UNWS contains a plasterguard that is used in aiding the installation of your faucet. It is not necessary to the functionality of the faucet. If you would like to replace it, the replacement part number is RP46075.

Asked by: Charlie
Hi Charlie, With the R10000-UNBX, you will need to use the updated Multi Choice cartridge. The new cartridge that is the equivalent of your current cartridge is part number RP46074. If you are going to be purchasing a new trim kit to go with the new valve, a new cartridge will come in that trim kit.

Can you use "Pex" products with this valve

I am using PEX product to install a shower up to the shower controls
Asked by: T
Thank you for your question. PEX products can be used with Delta Faucet model # R10000-UNBX but not between the valve and the tub spout. The only things you can use between the valve and the tub spout are copper pipe or iron pipe. If you use PEX in between those two points, you will get shower rise where water comes out of the showerhead when you are using the tub only.

How do I determine which style valve I need (R10000-???)

Replacing existing rough valve that broke (moron who installed originally did not use stringer to support, valve just hung in mid-air by copper tubing). I have copper 1/2" tubing w/ soldered connections, Delta T13 Series Tub & Shower. Access to the back of valve through 2x4 framed wall w/ drywall. Fiberglass one-piece tub/shower.
Asked by: Craig
Thank you for your question. Since you are mounting this on a fiberglass shower, we would recommend using the R10000-UNWSBXT for a thin wall mounting.

universal valves

I am wanting to convert my single handle Price Pfister tub & shower set to a delta. Which universal adapter would I need for this and would it also be possible to choose a set which has the separate temp control when my current one is not that type?
Asked by: Patti
Hi Patti, Thank you for your interest in our products. There is no way to adapt/convert another brand of faucet into a Delta. You would have to change the rough in behind the wall as well. The R10000UNWSBXT is one of our multichoice universal roughs. Once this rough is installed you can choose any of the Delta tub/shower trims to fit this rough in valve. Our T17 series trims offer separate temperature and volume control and are available in a variety of styles and finishes. Thanks, Dave

Does the Delta MultiChoice Universal R10000-UNWS rough valve body work with Monitor 1400 series with a RP19804 cartridge?

If you purchased a Monitor T13 or T14 Series trim kit, you will need RP46074 (included with the trim kit). The RP19804 will not work/fit into the R10000-UNWS valve. Best regards, Tanya

Hi, Jeff. Thank you for your question. The distance requirement from the finished wall to the stringer on the Delta MultiChoice Universal R10000-UNBX rough valve body is 2 3/4" ± 1/4" (70 mm ± 6 mm). Asked by: Hugh
Hi, Hugh! Thank you for your question. The screw stops on the R10000-UNWS will stop turning when fully open. You can turn the stops clockwise up to three full turns from the open position without a noticeable reduction in flow. Best Regards, Rosanna

Both the shower and tub spout run at same time

Asked by: Idmclean13
Thank you for your question. I apologize that you are having an issue and by your description, it sounds like you are having shower rise. This can occur when any of the following situations are not followed: 1) The distance between the tub spout and valve has to be between 8"-18". 2) Copper or iron pipe is the only thing that can be used between the tub spout and the valve. 3) There can only be one elbow from the valve to the tub spout. If any of these are not followed, you will have shower rise until the problem is corrected.

Is the plasterguard necessary?

I didn't realize the plasterguard was part of the assembly. Also, my opening is round not square as I am using a Kerdi membrane kit for my shower. Can I install this without the plasterguard? Thanks and good day.
Asked by: Eddie
Dear Eddie, Thank you for your inquiry! The Delta MultiChoice Universal Rough-In Valve R10000-UNBX contains a plasterguard that is used in aiding the installation of your faucet. It is not necessary to the functionality of the faucet. Asked by: MichiDan
Thank you for your question, MichiDan! A Diverting tub spout will need to be connected to the bottom port of the R10000-UNWS in order to divert the water to the R11000 diverting valve. We do not recommend diverting to a tub spout directly from this type of valve as there will be a noticeable reduction in pressure. Best regards, Edward
