Hello James, Thank you for your question. The Delta MultiChoice Universal Rough-In Valve R10000-UNBX does not come with fittings for added piping. This valve will accept 1/2" copper, 1/2" iron pipe. PEX, or CPVC adapters. Keep in mind that if you install a tub spout, you will need copper between the valve and tub drop. Hi J, Thank you for question. The R10000-UNHF does not have a port to the tub spout at all, not just the R10000-UNBX capped off. The capped off R10000-UNBX would offer a higher flowrate than one using the tub spout, but not as high a flowrate as the R10000-UNBXHF. Thanks, Dave

Hi Bitsmasher, Thank you for your question. The R10000-UNBX would not have been used in the model 1343 faucet from 11 years ago. The valve was introduced in February of 2006. You will be able to use the new T13/14 series trims with your existing valve body. The new trim ships with a new cartridge but you would have to continue to use the existing cartridge or replace it with a new RP19804. Switching the valve body out to a new R10000-UNBX multichoice universal rough would allow you to install any of our faucet trims and allow you to switch out finishes, or upgrade the faucet in the future without changing the valve. Hi George Z, Thank you for your question. Most likely, you are experiencing "shower-rise" where the water can’t get out of the spout as fast as it flows through the valve. This causes the water to back up and come out the shower head. There can be one of several reasons for this: The valve could be upside down The length from the valve to the tub spout is outside of the 8" to 18" rule There is more than one 90-degree angle Something other than copper or galvanized pipe was used going to the spout The most common reason is that there is something restricting the water flow to the spout, e.g. solder or something lodged in the pipe. Something is impeding the flow of water to the spout and causing it to back up and go out the shower head. If this is the cause of shower-rise it is possible to remove the blockage by removing the tub spout; then, feeding a plumber’s snake or a speedometer cable up through the tub drop. The act of feeding it causes it to twirl and loosen the blockage. Be sure to flush the valve before reinstalling the tub spout. Be sure to check the tub spout itself for blockage. If none of these help, you may need to call a plumber. After the shower has been installed and the wall has been closed, there is little that can be done to remedy this situation yourself. There would be no benefit to switching the valve body. Thanks, Dave

Hi Lance, Thank you for your question. The test cap will prevent water from exiting the valve. However, in order to leave the water supplies turned on you will also need a test plug (RP46079) as well, or install the cartridge, to prevent cross flow. Dear M, Than you for your question. If you are getting reversed water flow from hot and cold, we would advised removing the cartridge assembly and rotating it 180 degrees and reinstalling it back in the valve. This would correct the reversed water flow you are having. Best regards, Tanya

Thank you for your question, John! There are a couple options to divert the water between the shower head and a hand shower. The first is an in-wall diverter, which will require plumbing work. For this, you will need the R11000 Rough-In Valve and a 3-Setting Diverter Trim Kit to match your shower valve trim such as the T11851. Please note that if you will be installing a tub spout, the drop from the bottom port of the valve must be 1/2" copper or 1/2" galvanized pipe as the internal diameter of the pipe is important to prevent back-pressure. Thank you for your question, Mark! The "HF" or "High Flow" rough valves feature a blocked, pre-soldered tub port in order to provide the maximum flow rate to a shower head or diverter trim. Any MultiChoice Universal valve without the "HF" marking will work with a tub spout. The tub spout should produce approximately 4.8-9.8gpm depending on valve used and the PSI in your home. Hi Swiftowl, Thank you for your question! You may use PEX tubing from the valve to the shower head or the supplies. To increase the available flow rate for customer shower applications, we recommend to use a High Flow (HF) valve, such as the R10000-UNBXHF, which will increase the flow rate by about 1 gallon per minute at 60 PSI. We do not recommend installing a standard valve upside down. Thanks, Jon

Hi Ed! The difference between the R10000-UNBX and the R10000-IP is the type of pipe used in the installation. The R10000-UNBX can be used with copper, pvc, pex or iron pipe; whereas, the R10000-IP is made specifically for an installation with iron pipe.

This limits the handle movement to inhibit the full hot position. Dear Anthony's Plumbing, Thank you for your inquiry! What you are experiencing is called shower-rise. Someone has made an installation error in your wall. Here are the four things to check. 1. The distance between the center of the valve body to the center of the tub spout must be between 8 and 18 inches. 2. You must use straight ½” copper or ½” iron piping for the piping down to the tub spout. No PVC piping, PEX piping, drop ear elbows or shark fittings are allowed for the piping going to the tub spout. 3. You can only use one 90 degree elbow with the piping going to the tub spout. There should be no shark or gator bite fitting for the elbow connection. 4. Hi Lou, Thank you for your question! R10000 Rough-In Valves are designed to work with 13/14, 17, or 17T Series Trim Kits, which will control the volume and temperature of the tub/shower. The R11000 Rough-In Valve is a diverter valve that works with a 3 or 6 Setting Diverter Trim kits and will transfer water flow between 2 or 3 showering components. Hi, jmd46! Thank you for your question. The valve body to the tub spout assembly would need to have a distance between 8"-18" to prevent shower-rise. "Shower-rise"is when water can’t get out of the spout as fast as it flows through the valve.
