Why isn't cpvc an option?

Asked by: KevinO
Hi KevinO, Thank you for your question! This valve can be adapted for use with CPVC. Please note that if you will be installing a tub spout, the drop from the bottom port of the valve must be 1/2" copper or 1/2" galvanized pipe as the internal diameter of the pipe is important to prevent back-pressure. CPVC may be used for the supplies and/or shower. Best regards, Jon

I want to use this valve for a shower only installation. Will that work with this valve? Are there instructions?

Asked by: Mark
Thank you for your question, Mark! The "HF" or "High Flow" rough valves feature a blocked, pre-soldered tub port in order to provide the maximum flow rate to a shower head or diverter trim. Any MultiChoice Universal valve without the "HF" marking will work with a tub spout. The tub spout should produce approximately 4.8-9.8gpm depending on valve used and the PSI in your home. Below is a link to our current price books. The flow rate guide can be found on page 289 of the 2018 price book. Please contact us directly if you have any further questions. https://www.deltafaucet.com/for-professionals/product-resources/catalogs--brochures Best regards, Edward

Pex from valve to shower head

i understand why pex can't be used from the valve to the tub but the reasoning would not seem to apply in a shower only application. Is there any reason I can't run pex from the valve to the shower head? Also, I see that some people are installing the valve upside down to get greater flow to the shower. What is the rate of flow if installed normally and what is the rate of flow if installed upside down? Thank you
Asked by: Swiftowl
Hi Swiftowl, Thank you for your question! You may use PEX tubing from the valve to the shower head or the supplies. To increase the available flow rate for customer shower applications, we recommend to use a High Flow (HF) valve, such as the R10000-UNBXHF, which will increase the flow rate by about 1 gallon per minute at 60 PSI. We do not recommend installing a standard valve upside down. Thanks, Jon

what is the difference between the R10000-UNBX and IP

Asked by: ed
Hi Ed! The difference between the R10000-UNBX and the R10000-IP is the type of pipe used in the installation. The R10000-UNBX can be used with copper, pvc, pex or iron pipe; whereas, the R10000-IP is made specifically for an installation with iron pipe.

Hello, I'm installing a new MultiChoice universal rough valve (R10000-UNBX) and the handle only turns left form the down position 90 towards hot. Trim package is (T14459-BLLHD). Suggestions?

Asked by: Hans
Thank you for your question, Hans! The T14459-BLLHD trim kit includes a valve assembly cartridge that features a rotational limit stop. This limits the handle movement to inhibit the full hot position. Information on adjusting this stop further can be found on Page 6, Step 3 of the Maintenance and Installation manual below. https://media.deltafaucet.com/MandI/68881%20Rev%20M.pdf Best regards, Edward

What is the difference between the R10000 and the R11000

Asked by: Lou
Hi Lou, Thank you for your question! R10000 Rough-In Valves are designed to work with 13/14, 17, or 17T Series Trim Kits, which will control the volume and temperature of the tub/shower. The R11000 Rough-In Valve is a diverter valve that works with a 3 or 6 Setting Diverter Trim kits and will transfer water flow between 2 or 3 showering components. The bottom port of the R11000 valve would be connected to the top port of the R10000 valve. Best regards, Jon

Just ordered r1000-unwsbxt tub/shower valve. I am replacing an old 3-handle valve with the use of a remodel plate. My problem is distance between the tub spout and faucet centers can only be 7 " max. Will this cause stacking?

Asked by: jmd46
Hi, jmd46! Thank you for your question. The valve body to the tub spout assembly would need to have a distance between 8"-18" to prevent shower-rise. "Shower-rise"is when water can’t get out of the spout as fast as it flows through the valve. This causes the water to back up and come out the shower head when the user only wants the tub spout to flow. Best Regards, Rosanna

What can I do if my valve body is set too deap

I have a shower only application with multiple heads. Installed was a R10000-UNWS valve body and then a R11000 diverter. The shower walls were floated and then tiled. I followed the installers recommendations for the depth of the valve body and the diverter. After the tile was installed the valve body and diverter are now set too deep (about 1 1/4 inch) into the wall. Is there anything that can be done to allow the trim kit and handle it fit without having to tear into the wall and reset the valve body and diverter? I purchased Delta trim kit T17T253 for info.
Asked by: Josh
Hi Josh, Thank you for your question. We do offer extension kits that will help with your issue. The extension kit for the diverter trim is the RP75137. The extension kit for the T17T253 trim is the RP75136. Thanks, Dave

What cartridge fits this valve? I keep buying them and my contractor informed me I keep purchasing the incorrect one.

Asked by: Mandy
Hi, Mandy! Thank you for your question. The R10000 MultiChoice Rough Valve Body takes multiple valve cartridge assemblies. The correct valve cartridge assembly depends on your Valve Trim kit. If you purchased a Monitor 13/14 Series trim kit, you will need RP46074. If you have a Monitor 17 Series trim kit, you will need the RP46463. If you have the TempAssure 17T series unit, you will need the RP47201. What is the GPM this valve delivers to the tub fill spout

Asked by: Mike
Thank you for your question, Mike. The flow rate will depend on the trim kit used, the pressure in the home, and other factors. At 60 PSI the maximum flow rate will be about 6.0 GPM with a Monitor pressure-balance unit and 8.5 GPM with a TempAssure thermostatic unit. Best regards, Jon

Living in a new construction home, 2 of the 3 showers only have this roughed in (no fixtures) The 3rd shower has fixtures installed. My question is for the showers with the roughed in valves (no fixtures) will your hot and cold water mix when turned on?

Asked by: ahbe
Thank you for your question, ahbe! The rough-in will allow both hot and cold water into the valve. This should be tested with the provided test cap per the instructions. Without the cartridge that is included with a trim kit, however, you will not be able to adjust the temperature. Best regards, Edward

how ' universal " are the new trims? if the customer has a valve installed, 17oo series, can a new trim be installed in a pre universal valve? say a new style 1400 trim with new cartridge?

Asked by: JimW
Thank you for your question, JimW! The R10000-UNBX valve body will work with any current Delta valve trim in the 13/14, 17 and 17T series. The pre-multi choice cartridges, manufactured for older 1300/1400 series and 1700 series will not fit into an R10000-UNBX valve body. Our current 13/14 series trims would be able to fit over a pre-multi choice valve in the same series, however the pre-multi choice cartridge would need to be used, rather than the multi choice cartridges included in the new trim kits. WHAT IS THE GPM

Asked by: MRS B
Thank you for your question, MRS B. The R10000-UNBX valve will provide various flow rates, depending on the trim kit used and the PSI available to the home. At 60 psi, a 13/14 series can produce up to 5.8gpm but at 80 psi this can go as high as 6.8 gpm. A 17 series can produce approximately 5.9 gpm to 6.8 gpm at these rates whereas the 17T trims can produce anywhere from 7.3 gpm to 8.5 gpm. Best regards, Edward

Valve connection to tub spout

Our plumber installed pex between the universal valve and the tub spout, using a drop ear fitting where the tub spout will go. I have re-read the instructions and realize this was incorrect. We have not closed up the wall yet, so I am wondering if we can fix this ourselves. Does the copper pipe connection require soldering? How does the iron pipe install on the valve? I'm not sure which would be easier.
Asked by: robinja
Hi robinja, Thank you for your question. To install copper pipe on the R10000-UNWS you would have to solder the pipe connections. If using galvanized pipe the valve has a 1/2" male pipe outlet, you would need to install a coupling first and then the length of pipe to the drop ear elbow. Thanks, Dave
