Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # BT14296-OB will work on your current valve if it was a 1300/1400 series already. You will need to keep your old cartridge as the new cartridge will not function properly.

If the Delta Faucet Windemere® Monitor® 14 Series Shower Trim In Oil Rubbed Bronze MODEL#: BT14296-OB is leaking when off, we recommend a flush, debris can cause the cartridge to not seal properly. Please see the flushing instructions below, if this does not work then we recommend a cartridge replacement. 1) Remove the handle by loosening the set screw on the side of the base of the handle. The set screw is either a 1/8" or 3/32" Allen screw. So you will need to use the appropriate size Allen wrench to loosen it. Loosen it just enough to be able to easily pull the handle off. * Note. If there is calcium build-up at the base of the handle, it may be necessary to soak it in a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water. Simply saturate the rag with the 50/50 solution, wrap it around the handle base and place a plastic bag over it. I would recommend do this the night before removing the handle. 2) After removing the handle, remove the trim sleeve. 3) Then you will need to remove the bonnet nut. The bonnet nut is the threaded ring at the valve opening. It unscrews counterclockwise. You will need a pipe wrench or a pair of channel locks. 4) After removing the bonnet nut, you will need to pull the cartridge straight out. You may need a small, skinny bladed screwdriver to wedge in between the lip of the cartridge and the valve to help start it out. 5) Once the cartridge is removed, you will have an open valve body. 6) Next, shut the shower door or curtain and turn the water on to the valve. Water should gush out, much like an open fire hydrant. Have someone observe if there is good water pressure coming out of the valve and let it flush for 30 seconds. 7) Re-install the cartridge and re-assemble in reverse of how it was disassembled. I am sorry this information was not readily available, and I am happy to help! The handle is removed by first removing the cap on the end of the handle, then unscrewing the Philips head screw that attaches the handle to the cartridge. I recommend soaking the area with 50/50 white vinegar and water, then rinsing, to remove any buildup of mineral deposits. If there are water deposits making the screw difficult to remove, we recommend soaking in 50/50 white vinegar and warm water. Please contact us directly if you need further assistance.
